I receive numerous spam / junk mails from many subdomains in a particular domain (subdomain.domain) from which I don't receive any legitimate messages. I would like to be able to put '.domainname' or '*.domainname'in the message filter ('from') rather than having to add every 'subdomain.domain'' in the message filter.

In Thunderbird, when using the "Group By Sort" feature to organize emails by time periods such as Today, Yesterday, Last 14 Days, and Older, these groups collapse upon restarting the application.
I like to keep today and sometimes yesterday expanded. However i restart my pc numerous times during the day and when i restart Thunderbird the days I left expanded are collapsed once again.
Could not find an add-on or anyother solution to this so hopefully it can get on the list of features to consider.

Why isn't there a way to remove email accounts? Adding them is easy, removing them is impossible. How about a line next to New Account, for Delete Account.

Tl;dr: I would love to see Thunderbird (Currently known as K-9 Mail) also being brought to Apple devices. The term privacy and open source have become well used and something of a reason for many to switch apps/services and even operating systems and devices. But in this day and age on Apple those options are lacking since many are stuck with Apple and having access to a well functioning and well designed e-mail app, with transparent/limited/no data collection from a trusted source is severely lacking since as a user you are basically stuck with the default Mail app, or Canary which seems to be what many recommends (i think because there simply is no better options currently) but in having used K-9 for several years on Android and now that i am currently on Apple i find myself lacking options. But also with Canary moving to offering a more algorithmic and automated approach (it´s called Copilot and is pro/paid option) in handling of e-mail i think this will create a need for options. Personally even the look of the bottom toolbar is a annoyance since 1 icon is dedicated to the Copilot and no option to remove it. At least i cant find one. So i hope this idea generates some discussion and for others to chime in on this. If this suggestion is already somewhere else, or if this should be posted elsewhere then please point me to that place so i can add my vote.

It would be great if #Thunderbird added support for the Firefox Translations add-on
The add-on could allow you to translate received emails you're viewing via a click of a button, or even translate an email you're writing into another language before sending.

in thunderbird
the actions
compact folders
empty trash
are reachable through file menu
and
compact folders
is reachable through right click
"empty trash" often is the step to do before "compact folders" -> the workflow needs different menues -> not intuitive and slower than needed
-> suggestions:
have "empty trash" reachable via right click
have a combined "empty trash and compact folders" reachable via right click (and in the file menu usable for all marked accounts)

I just downloaded and installed Thunderbird.
When setting things up, it looks like my Google account and calendars have synced nicely.
For some reason, google tasks aren't imported/synced.
It would be nice if tasks could sync.
If this is already a feature, I'd like to know how to implement it 🙂

Hi, can you please add a Unified Spam folder just like how there is a Unified inbox on Thunderbird? I'm currently using Thunderbird beta, very happy with this app on Android and thought this would definitely improve the experience.

In Microsoft Outlook, in messages you can, by clicking on the attached pdf file, preview the file within the message itself without having to open it. This is very useful when you receive several PDF files in the same email and you want to choose one of them. There is no add-in that allows you to do this in the same way as Outlook.

Currently Thunderbird supports system tray on Windows - just close the software and an icon will be presented on Windows system tray.
Unfortunately this feature is missing on Linux. In past there were several plugins to do that, like several versions of Minimize-to-tray, however the plugin technology for Thunderbird (and Firefox) has changed over time, and these plugins are no longer supported.
Currently if I want to use this feature on Linux I need install an additional software like systray-x or KDocker, which it is weird.
So, please turn this feature native for Linux too!

Hello
I use thunderbird with more than 10 mailboxes.
After starting thunderbird sometimes a message windows appears to inform about wrong password by loging in a mailbox. But there's no information which mailbox it was.
Would be nice to send the account name or so with the bad login information!
Thanks for looking into this.
Regards,
Alain

The "Create Filter From..." command is very useful if you want to create a new filter.
But what if you want to add a rule to an existing filter? Using the same concept?
A proposed "Create Filter Rule From..." option in the same context menu could do the trick. Once selected, the list of existing filters is presented. The user chooses one and the rule is created within that filter. The list of filters can be a displayed as a drop down in the context menu itself. There can also be a "more..." option that opens a filter list window with other options like "Run filter now".
See attached for proposed placement.

When I receive an email in thunderbird I know I won't read (an advertisement for instance), that should be useful to delete this mail directly from the notification that appears on top of the screen (see this screenshot showing such a notification)

I have made many donations to Thunderbird over the years. I am very unhappy that you have no method of keeping track of my identity as a donor so that you will not nag me to donate after I have already made a donation. I would be happy to subscribe for a reasonable annual fee if that would purchase freedom from interruption by ads about how Thunderbird needs donations. Martin X. Moleski, SJ

I like the threaded messages feature but would like a way to have the lastest threaded message on top instead at the bottom. That is the order all of my other email messages are; most recent on top. I see others have suggested this feature.

Would it be possible to implement a rule for the Calendar module, that would let us automatically accept any calendar invitation (typically, Gmail ones) with a preset specific calendar? e.g. My coworker sends me different appointments that I only need to know in order not to make my own appointments at times she will not be in our workshop. When she sends me her invitations, I can set Thunderbird to automatically accept them with the calendar I use for her.
