Idea: Add DNS-over-HTTPS support for the Android version of Firefox
Reasoning: Google Chrome for Android already supports this, as does the Windows, MacOS, and GNU/Linux version of Firefox. This can be used to make the mobile browsing experience more private/secure.

The average user saves web pages to look at later or to send to someone else... or if they don't currently, they want to save web pages to do these things.
Firefox only has one native method of saving a web page complete with all images and content: "Web Page, complete". This is an absolutely terrible solution:
It doesn't save as a single file.
It saves dozens or even hundreds of files for a single page. One sample page that I saved was quite simple, but had 160 separate files and a folder for that one saved page!
Moving the saved web page can be difficult for typical users, since the necessary folder may not get moved.
Sending the saved page to others can be difficult and confusing for non-technical users.
Files are not compressed, which saves space.
Firefox used to have built-in support for the MAFF format, which was very useful...but it was removed several years ago for reasons which are unclear.
Most of the major modern browsers have native support for the MHTML/MHT format. Of leading Windows-based browsers, only Firefox lacks this major and important feature.
Firefox should provide the ability to save web pages with native support, in more than one format.
Why?
All other major modern browsers provide this support. Those browsers provide that support because it is demanded by users! Why is Firefox so far behind???
Users want to be able to save web pages which are important to them for many and various reasons. It's important to save things like filled forms, confirmations, pages with information of special interest, information of personal importance, etc. The list of reasons are endless!
Web pages saved on other browsers cannot be opened with Firefox, which means maintaining a second browser to open those saved pages. These pages can come from friends or work colleagues and can be very important in daily life. If we cannot open them, it puts us behind other browsers.
Typical users do not know how to move or to send "complete" web pages. They send just the HTML file and everything else gets lost, or they move it to another directory or folder and it doesn't contain the images or other function it had. For the average user, the "Web Page, complete" function is complex and useless.
Typical users do not want to go through the complexity of finding and installing an extension to do a simple and common task. The first problem is that they may not even know what they are looking for, so they either spend hours searching through extensions or they give up...and switch to another browser which can accomplish the task.
Firefox should be more compatible with file formats, not less. The primary value of Firefox among a field of other browsers is its feature set. Web Archive File format capability is an important feature which Firefox lacks and other browsers have. Firefox is incompatible with common standards in this regard--meaning that it is well behind the competition.
Due to the complexity of the "Web Page, complete" save method, users may lose valuable data, which they have saved for a particular reason. It is extremely inconvenient to move hundreds of files and folders to relocate a few web pages. Important files can be easily lost if a user fails to move the folder as well. It would be much better to provide a native single-file solution for saving web pages than the current Firefox solution, reducing the complexity of this common task for the average person.
It is difficult for the typical user to differentiate between single-page HTML and HTML pages saved as separate files. If they want to send an HTML file to a friend, they must either bundle up a bunch of files (which is beyond the technical expertise of many people) or point them to a website...or just give up. Most users don't know how to find an extension to save single-file web pages. If they do find one, it does not support the industry standard, so they cannot open similar files sent from others who do not use a Firefox browser.
What is the solution?
Add native Web Archive File save and read support to Firefox for the following formats:
MHTML/MHT -- This is the most common format, supported by all major browsers, except Firefox. Adding this function would make Firefox more competitive and more compatible, not to mention more useful.
MAFF -- This format was actually created by Mozilla and used in Firefox, but was abandoned years ago for no good reason. The advantage of this format is that it uses the ZIP standard to compress a web page, creating not only a single file backup of the page, but saving space as well.
Webarchive -- This format is used by the Safari browser on Mac computers. A lot of misguided and misinformed people use Macs. They may want to exchange web pages with their friends, family, or work colleagues, so including this format will allow that.
Later, support could be added for:
WARC -- This is the Internet Archive's "Web ARChive" format, which can be used for saving entire sites. It could be used to save an entire set of tabs, complete with contents.
HTMLD -- This is the "HTML Directory" format, which can also be used for sites and for web servers. It could be used to save tab sets as well.
These two formats would put Firefox far ahead of the competition and add a feature that would add tremendous value.
The minimum support for a native Web Archive Format should be MHTML/MHT because it is the most common format in use. I would also argue for the MAFF format, which would offer support for orphaned files created by Firefox in the past...and should be easy to implement if the other can be implemented... After all, Firefox already has the code on hand.
If security is a concern, then have this feature turned off by default, available to activate within Settings. No browser should ever be so secure that it is useless. Security should always be coupled with ability for software to have value.
ADDING MHTML/MHT AND MAFF SUPPORT SHOULD BE A TOP PRIORITY FOR FIREFOX!

On Firefox Android, I've noticed problems on download management: 1. The Downloads page does not display the progress/status of ongoing downloads. It only displays completed downloads. 2. The download progress only displays in the system notification. If the download fails and cleared that notification (either intentional or by accident), the download will be removed/cancelled. Here's my idea: Add more information in the Downloads page (much like in Chrome and Edge): - progress/status of ongoing downloads - pause/unpause and cancel options - progress bar or otherwise - download speed and size downloaded over download file size Comparison of downloads page of Chrome, Edge and Firefox: Notice the download notification icon on the top of each browser.

As for now the themes for homepage is kind of boring.
1: Add clear colors
2: Option to to add your own background.
No add-on, no fiddling around. Just choose..
Anyway..Love firefox 🙂

Idea Suggestion: Add an option to bypass the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) links that Google/Bing use and go straight to the original publishers website on the mobile version of Firefox and Firefox Focus.
Reasoning: The Brave web browser already supports this, as does DuckDuckGo, and AMP links can be annoying/unnecessary and could be used for tracking, which can compromise user privacy. As AMP is exclusive on the mobile web, it would be unnecessary to add it on the desktop version.

I open a lot of tabs and i often reach greater than 100. Firefox Android displays the infinity symbol instead. Please extend this to 3 digits instead so I know how many tabs I have opened.

Currently to return to the tab you were on after pressing new tab you have to scroll down to the "resume" box. However my fingers are already at the top as I was using the address bar or created a new tab.
Swiping to return to pages works when I'm in an active tab but doesn't when I'm in the new tab view.

I've recently made the switch to Firefox as my default browser on Android, for convenient syncing, as it's my default browser on my Linux desktop. there's one ingenious Chrome feature I miss in my mobile experience. that is the 'Contextual Search' or 'Touch to Search'. I think it can be done better in Firefox mobile. it's a multifunctional bar that pops from the bottom (within a convenient thumb-reach), that can do numerous things: run a quick search, on top of your viewed tab, of a highlighted term. display a dictionary definition of the highlighted term (incredibly useful when reading articles). or if a whole sentence is selected, it shows a full translation of it to your language. open links in a pop up preview panes (which is very time saving when browsing through a blog/magazine or doing a research, when you want to peek into a page or article to see if it's for your liking). edit, a suggestion I came up with: would love to hear your thoughts 🙂

It'd be helpful to have a new tab button next to the address bar on mobile for easy access.
Currently, opening a new tab requires two clicks - one to open the tab window, and another on the "+" button to open the new tab. This also requires interaction with two different parts of the screen that are far apart from each other (top right vs bottom right), which is hard to do one-handed or in a hurry, especially on larger phones.
I'm a heavy tab user, and the option to have a "+" button directly next to the address bar would make it easier to open a new tab quickly.

I hope that the history function of the android app can become better. After a certain amount of time like today and yesterday. The rest is pretty useless like last 7 days. I hope that history can be divided into dates like some other browsers. Which makes it easier to understand on which date did you do something or from when till when you finished a book or series. Thank you

Since Chrome 90, there has been a feature which allows users to highlight some text on a given webpage and create a link which, when visited, highlights the text again. The link is appended with #:~:text= with the text to be highlighted being URL encoded and put after. A simple but incredibly useful feature I recon Firefox could benefit from.

Hi Firefox team, First of all, thank you very much for your work. I've been using Firebird on desktop and mobile for many years and it's good to have alternatives. I have a suggestion for the mobile version. In this version I use collections and very often I accidentally delete a page from a collection by swiping to the right or left. However, there is no undo function. I would therefore be very happy to have one. Greetings burnfox

Pretty much requesting functionally as seen on Chrome-based browsers for android. It's much more ergonomic to just swipe down and open tabs than to click on a very little icon on the screen and risk losing time + increasing the likelyhood of droping the phone.

Using bookmarks on mobile is pretty annoying. Your options are: 1) using uncustomizable shortcuts; 2) using the (...) menu to open bookmarks and 3) pin "latest bookmarks" to homepage and click "show all". Option 1 is pretty much out of the question if you use a lot of bookmarks and/or need folders; Options 2 and 3 have you clicking a lot to get to the bookmarks toolbar, which is extremely annoying.
Also, adding something to bookmarks on mobile, doesn't bring up the menu to choose where it ends up, and doesn't have a way to set up a default location, which forces me to then go into the bookmarks menu and manually move them. Having a default location option and the desktop-style bookmarking menu would be much appreciated.
I suggest an option for the current bookmarks widget or a new widget altogether for the homepage, that would just allow you to pin a bookmark folder (Bookmarks\Desktop\Bookmarks Toolbar in my case). Widgets usually have limited space, so I suggest having an arrow/show all button that will expand to show the whole folder (and you should have the option to have it expanded by default). Also, preferably in a list format rather than tiles with thumbnails.
Alternatively add a bookmarks menu to the tab button menu, but this way the whole homepage is just wasted space for me, so I would prefer the former option.
