Progressive Web apps are an important feature of a browser that Firefox is the only one missing. For some, it can be the reason to switch to another browser. From the previous post on Crowdicity: I would like to see vertical tabs baked in. MS Edge now has it out of the box! I currently use addons for this - but there's no way to disable the top tab bar, which duplicates the tabs and takes up space. Vertical tabs (with top bar disabled) would free up more space for web content, which is (usually) vertical. Most screens are widescreen (RIP ThinkPad 4:3 ratios), so the less browser UI at the top/bottom, the more content we can view. It would be great if there was a way to customize hotkeys. Here's how I see it:  * Have a about:hotkeys panel, with all actions listed, and already mapped shortcuts shown.  * Whether these should be modifiable or not is up to the dev community, ideally they'd be.  * When clicking on a hotkey field, ideally, there would be a capturing hotkey feature, or, before this, an AHK like syntax to define hotkeys (not as complex, something like: CTRL+H means this and MAJ+ALT+END means that...)  * a restore to default button.  * Done. It can't be done with an extension because some function can't be accessed by extensions (I'm actually looking for a way to send tab to other device while browsing with TST.). I think it's a great opportunity for Firefox to stand out by supporting JPEG XL before any other browser. Imagine images served by Cloudflare and Cloudinary load faster and look better only with Firefox. Firefox was a pioneer of web technologies and it should win the title back, if Firefox just keep following Chrome without any differentiation, why would people choose Firefox? If the decoder memory safety is a concern, maybe Mozilla can start a crowd funding campaign to sponsor a Rust decoder, even the campaign itself will attract reports and attentions for Firefox. A less complex product will have less bugs. The core of Firefox should only be the needed functionality to browse the web. Additions that are built in like Pocket add additional code. I my idea is that Firefox should split Pocket out from the Firefox executable and have it as an pre-installed extension which can be disabled by users or even removed if they do not want to have have it in their installation.   ... Firefox supports WebAuthn, but as far as I could tell only with hardware tokens. I could not find a word about Firefoxs support of Passkeys (like Apple announced recently) anywhere Personally I don't know why passkeys werent adopted much sooner, it seems such a long hanging fruit to just store the key in the FF password manager. I use FF to support a web where there is not only one option, like Chrome, but FF keeps falling behind and behind instead of being at the forefront. This should be a top priority. ... View more

Firefox isn't with useful tool, which is tabs suspender, it saves of much hardware consume and doesn't allow your PC stay slowness and/or your own internet, because tabs can consume internet and recourses in background without you use it, so that's important and should be in all popular browsers including Firefox. Firefox 88 had icons and labels on the main menu and the context menu.  After Firefox 88, it's just labels. Menu icons give instant visual cues, help speed up the act of finding the needed menu item, plus they help non-tech savvy users. Idea: Please bring back the menu icons. Or, at least, give us an option to see them. Removing the icons has become a persistent speedbump in productivity usage despite months of trying to get accustomed to it. I love extensions like Dark Reader that automatically transform any website with a dark theme. The way they do this is by injecting many new styles into the DOM, it works but there is two main drawbacks to this method : - there's a latency that makes contents blink - it reduces performances on some websites by a lot So It would be great if there could be a built-in low level solution (directly in web render?) that would swap colors on the fly without editing the page styles and thus would solve the two aforementioned issues. ...
