Hi Guys, it is good to have AES256 in place, but in normal usage, we are lazy and just prefer a PIN or sth else to enter each time. I suggest to have a strong recovery password which can be entered for restoring backups, and otherwise firefox should use windows internal/tpm/FIDO2 U2F etc as alternative. Firefox should be configureable to: a) set a strong passphrase for recover b) use legacy mode with simple pin (as additional layer for local users) c) make firefox know its on its machine and noone has stolen its data by trojan horse, so copytheft cant encrypt the data with simple 1234-pin number. hope you got me.. we need internal secure enclaves to unlock automatically. reason is to protect against stealing password manager data using trojan horses! this is the biggest risk we need to mitigate! ... As I understand it, some AI image generators embed watermarks to show that the image was generated by AI. With the amount of AI being generated and with many social media platforms not moderating their content, isn't it time that the browsers start implementing tests for these watermarks and overlaying a symbol or watermark over the image or in some other way show that it was generated, in order to protect viewers from false information and propaganda. ... Hi, I am currently in a transition phase from Windows- to Linux-clients (both running Thunderbird) and have a proposal to ease the compatibility between the new (linux) clients and some server databases (Windows). In my case the latter are used to store emails and do not support all (the characters in) the linux filenames, i.e., they do not support certain special characters like ":", which occurr in roughly every second email. It seems that there is already a "switch" for that (found here: https://www.reddit.com) within "utilityOverlay.js" [https://searchfox.org/] and in case of a Windows client, the special characters that cause trouble for windows are substituted. snippet from utilityOverlay.js Would it be possible to make this option accessible within linux, too, e.g. via an entry in the settings table - and thus permanent? ... The latest update removed the “Inactive Tabs” feature in the Mobile Browser, and instead displays all tabs in the window in order of when they were first opened.  Requesting to restore the Inactive Tabs function as a means of neat organization and aesthetics by removing clutter. It would be really nice to have an option to toggle an exception for history deletion of bookmarks. It's really helpful to see the last visit and times a bookmark has been visited. With a maximum for history entries it can happen that the history item for a bookmark is deleted automatically. The same happens with the option delete history when closing the browser. It would be preferable to have an option to make an exception for bookmarks in the case of deletion while closing the browser. For the automatic deletion of the history due to storage limits it should be the default behavior to keep history items for bookmarks and prefer deletion of items without a bookmark. ... View more

A recent update for Firefox on iOS switched the position of the buttons on the bottom “navigation” bar, which has been difficult to adapt to, and since I’m used to the prior positions I keep tapping the wrong button (ie. Since this feature hit my browser after an update a while ago, I'm constantly annoyed by it. I've been dragging tabs all the way to the left to rearrange them practically forever, and now suddenly doing this is pinning tabs that I don't want to pin - I'm just trying to rearrange my tabs. Perhaps I'm in the minority here, and that's fine - this feature can be enabled by default; however, an option to disable it altogether (via settings or even an about:config option) would go a long way. This feature greatly disrupts my workflows and has proven to slow me down when I'm in my flow state while developing websites. I need this feature to be toggle-able to continue using Firefox as my daily driver browser. Update 2025-09-29: This feature can now be (mostly) disabled via an about:config option (as of v143.0.3). Setting "browser.tabs.dragDrop.pinInteractionCue.delayMS" to any relatively high value should effectively disable the option. The value is the number of milliseconds before the pin tab option triggers. I set mine to 2000, requiring a full 2s before the feature triggers, which has generally solved the issue for me. Hi, I'm using a bit Thunderbird, but there are a lot of small issues that you can consult here :  All the things that are holding me back from fully using and supporting Thunderbird  A missing behavior, probably the most important one in my opinion: synchronization of settings between devices. I can't imagine fully using Thunderbird without this. For example : A user begin to use Thunderbird a lot, this user will look at his emails from a phone plus two computers. He start to configure and discover on the fly some settings a little by little on his main computer. Then he decide to setup another device but find out he need to redo everything, not to mention that he has forgotten half of the changes he made. In fact, he probably found out that Gmail, Outlook or another app already meet his needs. The question is, why did he started to try another app ? Probably because he needed a centralized app with all his emails so no need to have multiple tabs open on his browser. But he couldn't make the transition in a small amount of time while keeping his habits. He had to change some settings because he couldn't get back his habits.   ... View more

Instead of shoving so called AI tools in Firefox, I would love a feature that can detect AI content, whether in text or in media (audio, image, video). Right click a text selection, an image or a video and select "Is it AI?". A popup appears and gives an answer. You could also add this feature to Thunderbird. ... View more
