Status: New idea

Instead of forcing AI stuff down your users throats, just put it into an add-on that users can install on the browser if they want it. If it's as great as you seem to believe, then what's the problem with making it opt-in by default instead of having to opt-out?

Seconded. ALL GenAI "features" should be optional and either available through a downloadable add-on as suggested here, or disabled by default and impossible to accidentally enable.

At least AI functionality should be easy to disable. Currently, it has to be disabled through numerous disparate settings, which is very inconvenient and requires maintaining a list of settings to remember.

Yes, please! AI being forced on me is definitely enough to get me to find another browser to use.

Or even better just don't do  the AI thing in the first place just saying

I concure. AI stuff... please keep it optional. I don't have much incentive to use it and it is just another way to further bloat the web browser. I prefer old school firefox and miss it everyday

IMHO, 'AI' is a huge economic bubble that will wipe out so many companies once it pops. Mozilla could walk away unscathed if they don't tether themselves to all of these propped-up chat bots masquerading as something more.

But at minimum, AI anything should be something you opt-into, not opt-out of.

I don't want AI at all. One of the reasons I use Mozilla is because I don't like how other browsers force AI on you. I do not need more bloat in my browser I do not need to be more worried about my privacy. If Mozilla must develop an AI browser please make it far away from me. Make it an add-on or an extension would be plenty thanks

Agreed, I don't want any AI BS. And I want to preemptively ensure it never touches my browsing experience instead of having to spend hours rooting around for all the slop Firefox's desperately out of touch CEO is determined to hide on my computer.

Was about to submit a similar idea. Either an add in or choice during install/update: AI or non-AI browser. And not a stripped down Ai version but a complete free Ai browser.

Honestly my preferred option would be a browser without AI, but this seems like a fantastic solution. Provided it's something that's not pre-installed, something an average user can choose.

Given that I had to follow tutorials to uninstall unnecessary, bloating AI stuff from my browser, I'm not that optimistic.

Which is a shame, because Firefox was always reliable. Untill now.

Yeah. I've been using Firefox since pretty close to launch. If I can't disable AI features, I'm out.

I don't want AI at all. It's an environmentally disastrous movement pushed from the top down by corporate scam artists. The AI bubble is going to be another dotcom bust that's going to (hopefully) take out a lot of shortsighted companies that don't care about what customers actually want. I have data privacy concerns about Mozilla integrating AI into their browser, and if they implement this I will be finding a new browser.

If I am unable to disable AI functions I will find a new browser.
