Every once in a while I will accidently delete a message. In addition owl-ews has a bug which informs Thunderbird that messages are available (which activates Message filters too soon) and some large messages are "deleted" before they are processed by the Message Filter.
From all appearances, messages are only marked as "Hidden" and remain in a Folder until the Folder is compacted. If this is a case, having a Un-Hide menu item for a folder would resolve both issues.
Is this possible?

Hello,
It's really annoying to have to click on "Edit" every time you modify a simple event. I use tags a lot, and also when you make a typo, doing this step all the time wastes time. Of course, for recurrent events, you have to keep this step to have "Modify only this occurrence" or "Modify all occurrences". Thank you for reading, and for everything you do. I am a Mozilla fan 🙂

when reading an email, Thunderbird displays the reply, reply all, forward, delete, junk etc options at the top right opposite the sender's email address.
In fact it displays the down arrow beside the reply all and the down arrow is actually the same function as the reply all.
Why not change the down arrow to mean 'read next email' i.e the user is finished with the current email and wants to read and process the next email in the date sequence. this will make it easier and quicker for the user to read and process all their unread emails.
Better still, give the user the option to use the down and up arrow icons to mean read the next email downwards or/and upwards in the date sequence

The latest version has the address fields now expanding to reveal all the recipients.
This reduces the visible area of the body text and is most undesirable.

Can you kindly consider to have the option when replying to a threaded email that each and every time the reply email appear at the top of the email. Currently the reply email appear at the bottom of a threaded email and most recipients do not scroll down to the bottom to read the reply to their email. Currently, I need to cut my email signature and paste it to the top. The only other way to get the reply at the top is when forwarding a mail, but if it has to be sent to various recipients, you need to type in every time all the email addresses. It may just be that an option like this is available in the settings, but I cannot find it. Please advise.

Recently I have made the switch away from MS (OS and Outlook) 100% and and am on Ubuntu 22.04 (all latest patches and 5.19 kernel) and currently running latest Thunderbird beta 104.0b2. To be clear, I am NOT an email power user. I have three accounts and use them for nothing more than personal email and a single account for the calendar. What is bugging me is that "Mark as Read" is only an on/off config. Meaning, either it is marked when seen or a delay. However, when I forward and email or open the message in a new window, it does not mark the email as read. In each case I need to manually mark it as read. Again, I am on the latest beta and this may not be what prod actually does and/or could very well be something in the works already, and if so, mea culpa! Cheers! Jeff

Basically the title.
When you're in inbox and click on it, it's moved to the junk folder. But there also should be an "un-junk" function or icon for the other way around.

When we are composing a message we see above it who is sending, but we only see it is our email address. And after we send the message we look in the sent folder and we see indeed it's not just our email address who is the sender, it is also our name. Therefore why not show the same thing that we will see in the sent folder not only then but also while we are composing the email!

GPG/GPGME subsystem preserves keys systemwide.
Thunderbird must not duplicate the keys.

I'd like to have more options on the drop-down list of when to remind me, when creating an event in Thunderbird, without having to choose Custom. (Using Custom takes a lot more clicks!)
Outlook has the following options on its drop-down, that Thunderbird is lacking:
- 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 18 hours (with 12 hours, which is also in Thunderbird, showing as 0.5 days) - 3 or 4 days - 2 weeks
If this is thought to be too much, could adding more to the list be an option in the settings? Or would there be a way for an extension to do it?
My reasoning, especially for the number of hours, is that I'd like to be reminded near the start of day when I have an event, regardless of when during the day that event occurs.
I'm a programmer (though I've never looked at the Thunderbird code) and I'd also be willing to try to code this and submit it as a proposed patch - but only if you let me know it would be accepted!

Thunderbird for desktop should also support tags without a color (ie transparent). You can apply multiple tags to a message, and then the message on the list is displayed in the color of the first tag alphabetically. Eg if you tag a message as 'Later' (say, yellow) and 'Travel' (say, orange), the message will appear in yellow, but you may want 'Travel' to be the dominant tag. Currently, I would rename 'Later' as 'zLater' to make sure it is listed last and deprioritised, but it gets more complicated when you want to apply several tags to a message.
A transparent 'Later' could be applied without affecting the display color, but 'Later' could still be used in filtering rules etc.

It doesn't feel right when I resize the Thunderbird's window, almost everything and more obvioulsy the messages list pane will be resized in a way that is totally counter-intuitive. It almost always needs to be adjusted. I think, either the proportion of the resizing of all pane should be look for better reactions; or, only the message's content view pane should be resized and the rest stay untouched. It always react differently, that's odd!

After using Quick filter and "display in list" the folder pane is not visible anymore. Maybe someone wants to move the filtered e-mails into a folder by dragging the e-mails to that folder.
Before commenting: - I am aware of the "rightclick -> move"-function but it is not intuitive; - I get no results if I just use the quick filter alone and it displays "press enter to look further", no mather with buttons I press (and another tip of mine was to make it visible on the buttons if you have pressed "contact" or not.

I hope this message finds you well.
I wanted to share a suggestion that could improve the usability of Thunderbird’s calendar feature. It would be extremely helpful to have an option to filter and display only the appointments that have been shared with me — not all calendar entries.
This would make it much easier to focus on relevant shared events, especially when managing multiple calendars or working in collaborative environments.
You can also identify my account easily, as my email address is already associated with the shared events in question.
Thank you for your continued work on Thunderbird — it’s a fantastic tool that I use daily.

If I press CTRL-SHIFT-K a new bar appears. If I press CTRL-SHIFT-K again it should disappear?

The purpose of this would be to highlight the last email that I was looking at, rather than the last one I double-clicked.
As things are now, the last email I double-clicked, rather than the last one I looked at, is highlighted.
To keep the present functionality intact, a solution is to add an entry to the email tab's right-click menu that says something like "Display email in list". That would then open a tab displaying the email's account in the usual way (if one is not already open - no duplicates, please), with the email highlighted and the list scrolled so that the highlighted email is visible, say, fifth from the top (this would be configurable).

It should be able to change the content of an e-mail to the same view as the list van e-mails. See the red circle in the picture of where I would like to read the e-mails. You click once on the e-mail (or twice if it really needs to be twice) and then you can see the whole e-mail. With displaying the e-mail beneath (by pressing F8) you cannot read more than 2 lines of the e-mail....
So I no longer have the e-mail displayed beneath the list now (F8). Yesterday I found the shortcut F for displaying the next e-mail :-). For moving an e-mail to another folder I want to see the folder pane. Are you gonna need another shortcut for that or are you just gonna make it able to display the e-mail in the view where the list is? Please??

HTML elements and even MathML is used in title of rss feed by journals for eg. sciencedirect, so when this is recognized, thunderbird must render them properly.

My corporate email account uses POP3 with OTP (One-Time Password) authentication. Since the password changes every time, I have configured my Thunderbird account to not save the password. To prevent automatic login attempts, I have also disabled the following settings: "Check for new messages at startup" "Check for new messages every [X] minutes" Problem: However, when I manually click the "Get Messages" button, Thunderbird often attempts to log into the server before it prompts me for the new password. It uses a previous or cached password (or an empty one), which fails. This results in multiple error dialogs stating: "Login to server [server name] for user [username] failed," appearing before I ever have a chance to enter the current OTP. Expected Behavior: When all automatic checks are disabled and the password is not saved, Thunderbird should never attempt to log in automatically. A manual "Get Messages" action should immediately present the password prompt without first trying and failing with old credentials. This issue interrupts the workflow and requires closing multiple error dialogs before I can actually retrieve my email.
