Would it be possible to have an option to stop Thunderbird 'opening' more than one email? Or at least stop it happening on a double click or 'enter'? This is something I never want to to, and end up frequently doing unintentionally. I often select multiple emails, e.g. to delete, move, or mark, and I sometimes end up with them all opening in separate tabs or windows.  This is possibly partly due to an old mouse that generates unintended double clicks when I click an email to add. It's also possibly partly due to my Parkinson's. The consequence of this can be painful if I've selected dozens of emails. Thunderbird grinds to a halt, and getting rid of all the tabs can be a little time-consuming as I have to either individually delete them, or 'close other', and restore the tabs I want. ... I'm really frustrated when using my mouse scroll wheel button for doing locked auto-scrolling (clicking the wheel toggles the scrolling on & off). The feature works great -- with one major exception.  If I happen to click the wheel while the cursor is over a hyperlinked image or hyperlinked text, the link opens in a new tab. But, that wastes time and interrupts my work flow. It's a frequent frustration. I just want the scrolling to stop, and no link to open. Now, I realize that some people do use the wheel button to open a link in a new tab (which I do from the right-click menu instead). So, I ask that an new booleen  item be added to About:Config.  It could be called MiddleButtonControlsScroll.  When set to True, the middle button (scroll wheel click) would toggle locked auto-scrolling on/off, and NEVER open link. As a user, I'd like to be able to click-and-drag my Firefox Window by grabbing empty Vertical Tab space. The new vertical tabs (with groups) is great, however it does leave some unfertilised blank space that could be better utilised.  A few times I've clicked-and-dragged on the blank space in the hope of moving my Firefox window somewhere else, such as a different monitor - but at the moment it's just empty space that does nothing. Thunderbird recently showed a notification suggesting to move from ESR branch to Release branch, pointing to this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-release The instructions for installing on Linux suggest Flatpak as the first install option, and my understanding is this is the preferred option? Currently only the ESR branch is available from Flathub (the flathub-beta repo also has the beta branch but not the release either). Snap (the second suggested install method) also lacks the release branch. The only ways to get the release branch currently are by using a distro which packages it in their repo or by following the "Installing Thunderbird manually for a Specific Release Channel (For advanced users)" instructions, which isn't ideal. Please could you add the release branch to Flathub (also Snap for people who use that)? ... View more

Currently Firefox can prevent some types of fingerprinting, in particular when restrictive protection is enabled, but does not tell the user what is being blocked/randomized. It would be more useful if the settings UI allowed to enable different types of fingerprint protections such as canvas, webGL and fonts, instead of having to resort to about:config. For example, I usually have privacy.resistFingerprinting enabled in about:config which turns on additional protections, but I don't like that it forces light mode on websites. ... View more

Something I've heard unilaterally said by GNOMies as of late is that they want Firefox in their desktop environment to look like itself, instead of trying to relentlessly look like Adwaita, per their whole dream of each application following its respective platform... or lack of in Firefox's case. Right now, System Theme in gnome always means it tries to follow Adwaita, to varying results, however this idea proposes that browser.theme.native-theme should be set to FALSE by default only if running inside of GNOME. This would mean Firefox in GNOME gets the automatic Light/Dark switch behaviour from Windows and mac by default, which is more in line with the aforementioned GNOMies' desires, instead of trying to look partially like Libadwaita (and Adwaita at the same time). Their desires are currently realised by the GTKless CSS modification, but having it be an official default for GNOME would be better.   Futhermore, this would benefit from also giving dialogs and menus the colours from the Light/Dark lwthemes' palettes respectively, instead of the GTK stylesheets'. ... When using vertical tabs with the sidebar on the right side of the screen, with expand-on-hover, the X (close tab) button will always be where the mouse is hovered when the sidebar expands. This leads to accidentally closing tabs. Solution: add option to flip the 'X' button so it is left-aligned in the tab instead of right-aligned. While i'm not sure this is the perfect way to solve this, it seems at least trivially easy to implement, and should fix this issue entirely. ... View more
