In Microsoft Edge there's a function where when you have tabs grouped and they are collapsed, you can hover over the collapsed group and then a scrollbar appears where you can select a specific tab. It's a great way of decluttering if you are working in a lot of tabs at the same time. Firefox doesn't have that function, in order to select a specific tab within a collapsed group you need to open the entire group and that opens all of the tabs. ... View more

My apologies if feedback re. the homepage should go to a different place. The German translation of the homepage has space next to the double quotes around user voices/appraisals. Currently, links within a Firefox Collection can be deleted too easily—either by swiping left/right or by accidentally clicking the always-visible "X" button. This creates a risk of unintentionally removing saved items. I’d like to suggest introducing an Edit mode (accessible via the three-dot menu or a dedicated "Edit" button). When Edit mode is active, users could then delete or modify links. Outside of Edit mode, links should only be click-able to open in a new tab, with no delete option displayed. Tab Groups are currently implemented in Chrome such that closing all of the browser's windows (or even just a window with a tab group in it) does not eliminate the list of existing tab groups; they're saved, and the user can click on a tab group in the list and respawn the tabs in that tab group. If I recall correctly, Brave implements it this way too, as does Safari (though it looks different, obviously). To me, this is the killer-feature aspect of Tab Groups: they're like temporary bookmarks, so even if my browser crashes, I don't lose what I was working on, but I don't have to go to the trouble of saving (and updating) a bunch of bookmarks to get that effect for things that I only want to save temporarily. I've been using arc browser as an alternative to FF, and they have a really helpful feature that is a keyboard shortcut to copy the current page link without losing focus from the page and no need of changing your flow. I've been looking for alternatives, and the closer I found is to execute command +  L and command + C, but even if I don't need to touch the mouse or tab key to copy the link, I lose focus and is not the best experience. OpenSearch was removed in the 2019 Firefox for Android remake and still not brought back. Just look at the steps one needs to take to add a search engine now — this is not normal. It also makes engines other than the default ones second-class citizens, without even their own icons. Tap the three-dot menu button. Tap Settings. In the General section, tap Search. Tap Add search engine. A list of additional predefined search engines will be displayed. Tap the Other radio button to add a search engine and do the following: in the Name field, enter Kagi. In the Search string to use field, enter https://kagi.com/search?q=%s  In the Search suggestion API (optional) field, enter https://kagi.com/api/autosuggest?q=%s Tap the confirmation button in the top right corner of the screen. If your browser is configured to default to private browsing, this will require you to log back in to Kagi each time your tabs are closed. v136 introduced dynamically-expanding tab sizes on tabs with audio. This can be laggy though, as a page loads and the video/audio starts playing, causing misclicks. The tabs will also then shrink back down eventually once the audio's been idle for awhile, which can be visually distracting. There's some kind of thing that can be done with userchrome.css, but this is a workaround that's not viable for most users. Currently Thunderbird supports system tray on Windows - just close the software and an icon will be presented on Windows system tray. Unfortunately this feature is missing on Linux. In past there were several plugins to do that, like several versions of Minimize-to-tray, however the plugin technology for Thunderbird (and Firefox) has changed over time, and these plugins are no longer supported. Currently if I want to use this feature on Linux I need install an additional software like systray-x or KDocker, which it is weird. So, please turn this feature native for Linux too! ... View more

In noticed the updated Thunderbird Android webpage is highlighting that it can support multiple email accounts within TB Android/K-9. (an existing feature). It would be super useful to also be able to MOVE emails between different email accounts, as opposed to the current restriction of only moving email within folders of the existing account. In short, Firefox   is quite fast, but could be faster with Betterfox's Fastfox .js included by default. The settings don't break anything (as far as I know), and overall make Firefox faster than Chromium. Not only that but in theoretical tests (aka Speedometer 3.1), it's faster than Chromium. This would allow for Electron-like frameworks that work on top of Gecko and SpiderMonkey instead of Chromium via CEF. It would also be good for embedding webpages in desktop applications. As it stands, CEF is the go to for this along with some WebKit-based options like WPE. ... View more

Inspired by https://github.com/classvsoftware/under-new-management it seems like the browser itself ought to watch out for extensions changing ownership, and give users the option to decide whether they want to keep using it. This appears to be a very active form of abuse right now, where extension authors are inundated with buyout offers from sleazy people/companies who will add in tracking or whatever. Perhaps this could take the form of automatically revoking all permissions on an ownership change, and re-requesting? ... View more

Hi In Firefox Mobile and Firefox it would be useful to clear history and cache of websites visited that is older than a certain amount of time or before a specific date. For example, clear data that is older the 3 months, or older 6 months, or older than 14.04.22. At the moment you can only clear recent data or everything. This would allow you to free space used up by cached files on websites that you are not visiting frequently or recently. This is particularly handy if your mobile device does not have much free storage, but you still want to benefit from reduced download time of having cached files from websites you visit regularly or websites you have visited recently and will look at again soon but will not likely visit again in the long term. Support Firefox to be able to use different tab view modes on different windows! For example, two Firefox windows on different monitors, in my situation below: - One on a 1920*1080 hori screen, with vertical tab sidebar disabled - One on a 1080*1920 vert screen, with vertical tab sidebar enabled for this window only in this case. Because the horizontal and vertical screen experiences are different, it is very reasonable to make the sidebar selectable by window! 😄 It brings much more convenience, at least for situations just like mine. There is already a GitHub issue open which describes the problem pretty well. Thunderbird Mobile does not enable encryption by default, when the public key of the recipient is available. Example: I've setup Thunderbird Mobile and OpenKeychain for my mother. Now she can send me encrypted emails. But I told her, she has to remember to click on the lock icon before she sends the email. She already forget that at least once. As we all know, defaults are important, because most people don't change them. I think encryption for recipients with a public key should be on by default.
