I use filters in Thunderbird to file email in specific folders, and I have quite a few.  When I need to use 'Search' to find a specific message, that works well, but the results don't show which folder the original message might be held in, (unless I've missed something obvious...) so further searches are needed to find messages which might be related. Problem: Currently Firefox (120.0.1) only displays newly discovered search engines (when visiting a page) inside the extended URL search engine menu, and even in this menu well hidden amoung the previously existing one. Suggestion: Add notification of newly discovered OpenSearch search engines inside the URL bar, with simple way of adding it to the saved search engines, allowing the user to add an alias etc. ... maybe best, if the settings page is used, to reduce code overhead and double implementation. BTW, simply adding a search engine via context click on HTML:input fields is terrible as well. Defining a custom search engine (e.g. "https://some.page/q=%s") in Firefox is a mess. ... View more

I use search quite a bit however the user experience is suboptimal in two ways: the search result window doesn't show in which folder a particular search result has been found it's currently not possible to move a seach result to another folder from within the search result window Adding these 2 features would make the search result windows much more usable/user friendly imho. ... I try to organize the mail that I want to save in folders.  However, it can sometimes be challenging to remember which folder a specific message is saved in.  I can always do a search in the All Mail folder to find a message. But, once I have found it in the all mail folder there isn't a way of figuring out what folder it is really stored in.  The location column in All Mail will only report "All Mail" as the folder where the message is stored.  Please add a full list of folders where a message is stored to the location column.  Thanks ... Hey guys, is there a plan to add a feature that displays on the side the address bar the given name of the shortcut that's been chosen? for example in Chrome it looks like this after I press a shortcut for Wikipedia (w) that I named "Search Wikipedia" and then press Tab: In comparison, there's nothing after I press Tab in Firefox and I can't tell if the shortcut I wanted to use was activated. (The name reassures me of which shortcut it is in case I have many shortcuts and I forgot which one is by that keyword.) But currently Firefox Desktop doesn't have any of that: I'm a heavy user of bookmark shortcuts, and this is one of the biggest reasons I can't switch from Chrome to Firefox. An easier manage of cookies likely notifications in the search bar. We could allow or deny with just one click. Now the management of cookies is really hidden. the process actually is: 1. Hello, To help easily cleaning up the inbox from deprecated messages, I mean not junk ones but those which are no longer relevant, probably because more recent emails have been received, and reduce the environmental impact of storing useless emails, I'd suggest to add a "filter for similar" as button or context menu item. So, whenever you receive a new email, you can take this opportunity to easily filter then delete the deprecated ones from the same sender. When using Firefox, I often replace part of a URL to navigate to a different page following these steps:   Step 1 - User is on a page such as https://old.reddit.com/r/LifeProTips/top/ Step 2 - User wants to navigate to a different page on the same domain, e.g., a different subreddit https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/top/  Step 3 - User double clicks on the part of the URL they wish to replace, e.g., LifeProTips Step 4 - User begins typing new part of the URL they wish to navigate to, e.g., soccer Step 5 - User types 's' and desired behaviour would be for an autocomplete suggestion to appear based on browser history. Instead, the current behaviour is that the user has to type the entire word 'soccer'. We already have autocomplete suggestions when typing a domain name from scratch. This change would be an extension of that behaviour in the instance where a user starts to edit part of a URL instead. Other possibilities considered I accept that there are other ways to achieve my goal, e.g., I could just type 'soccer' into the address bar and Firefox would recognise the keyword from my visited pages history and suggest the desired URL. However, I only realised this today when forcing myself to consider alternative solutions before I posted this idea. Currently, URL hints appear to walk the tree for start- matches. so, whatever you type is searched as a prefix and it matches the search space of all the possible suffix extensions beyond this point which could match, I believe sorted by recency/frequency. Say I have www.reddit.com/r/ScotLand/new and I want to find r/Europe/new I have to wipe out ALL of .../ScotLand/new to begin to match Europe/new. I should be able to replace the "word" /Scotland/ with /Europe/ and have it do string-match on the LHS of my type point, finding the matches which extend to cover the RHS ... View more
