I don't mind sponsored ads, sometimes they're useful, but they're in the wrong place. I want my 2 rows of pinned links in the same place so I can find them, not pushed aside for a sponsored link. I wouldn't uncheck sponsored links if they weren't given primo real estate on the home page. Doing that turns them from useful to nuisance suggestions. If you must include sponsored links for mozilla revenue, set them aside so at least our priority pinned links stay put!
Better yet, list sponsored links stacked vertically in their own box to highlight, alongside the horizontal lines of pinned links. That way they're visible for that session (better ad visibility, for a longer time), but not getting in the way. Nobody has to 'dismiss' anything to get them out of the way. Then rotate them out for a new set of ads next session. Keep the "pin and dismiss' options on sponsored links. If pinned, it goes to the horizontal grouping at the END of the line, unless the user wants it higher up. After all, if pinned by the user, it's already a successful ad link, so forcing position won't be necessary or intrusive. If dismissed, then it's gone, to be replaced by another sponsor.
Keep adding new browsing history links at the end of last row, as usual.
