I write mails in two languages. When I write in my native language, and want to use the spelling checker, I have to go through the following sequence of steps: Enable "check spelling" in the context menu. I cannot select the language at this time, as that option is hidden until spelling checking is enabled. See every single word in my email underlined - it has defaulted to English. Go into the newly-revealed "languages" pane in the context menu, enable "Dutch", and disable "English". Kudos for letting me do that in one operation! It would be really great if it now reran the spelling checker. Instead every single word remains underlined in red. Disable "check spelling" in the context menu. Enable "check spelling" in the context menu. If you change the language selection, it should immediately rerun the spelling checker. Turning it off and back on again may be a time-tested IT meme, but it's not appropriate as a necessary step in a user interface. If I may suggest a radical option, why not remove the "check spelling" menu altogether? Just have the language menu. If no languages are selected, no spelling is checked. Dear Thunderbird Team, I have been using Thunderbird for many months and greatly appreciate the free, open-source email software. Recently, I learned that only about 3% of users donate, and I wanted to contribute a small amount, such as €2. However, I noticed that the minimum donation is €20 for a one-time contribution or €9 monthly. I believe that many users, like myself, use Thunderbird because it’s free and often have limited financial resources. A minimum donation of €20 may be too high for some, discouraging them from donating at all. If you introduce the option to donate as little as €1, more users would likely be willing to contribute. A lower entry barrier would probably increase overall donation rates and bring in more support. I hope you consider this suggestion to further engage the community. Every preference in about:config does not contain a space and the search bar also does not search the key values of the preferences. So if the search bar in about:config has a space in it, it should attempt to search strings that contain both strings, but not sequentially or connected. So if I were looking to toggle media key functionality in firefox, I would need to get the preference: media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled. I often don't immediately recall what the preference name is or how it is formatted off the top of my head, especially when the formatting is very inconsistent overall. If I search "media hardware" or "media key" it should display any preference containing both "media" and "hardware" or "media" and "key". If the preference contains the entire search string with spaces wildcarded or removed, it could also have preference towards the top of the search. ... View more

Hello, My proposition is to define a period by default for the search because we have always to define it when searching something : cases with "within year, month, week or defined by user". I think it will help. Also I use proton and when I search I have all in dubble because it search in inbox and "all messages", thus always the possibility to define "always in inbow" in an case. Imagine you have really really slow internet or are downloading a somewhat big file from a rate limited host with no resume or your region has unreliable power and there are constant power failures. And then imagine you use Chrome. The incomplete files are stored as randon named files with .crx_something file extension. And you won't be under the assumption that the file is actaally a fully downloaded file when looking at it in the future. Now imagine you're using firefox. There's 0 kb files with full file names. Except it's not a full file. It's a file that was being downloaded from a unrealiable server and was cut off or maybe there was a power failure and you have this file that looks like a normal file, but is 0 kb. So, I suggest using Chrome's approach of not using original file name when downloading a file and only set the name after the file is fully downloaded. Feature Request:  Make easily set options under Settings to turn the entire user interface text (and maybe icons) bold - separate from settings controlling the fonts for web pages. Extra Related Feature: If possible also provide a text/icon stroke option (including thickness and color) for the UI so it does not matter what theme you use you can ALWAYS read the UI text and icons with ease. For extra eye-candy you could do a transperancy gradient on the stroke if that doesn't eat performance and is easy to do. Option to force dark or light UI text and Icons without using an entire dark/light theme - so you can override themes that look good but have poor contrast with text and icons. Bolding UI text is literally the best feature I've experienced in years (and I had to userChrome.css it into existence); If you have a 4k screen or use most themes you can barely read text and icons on the UI with ease. I don't know how this option does not exist as an accessibility option out-of-the-box. These UI accessibility features should be easily set in the Settings instead of hacking about:config and chrome/userChrome.css You have no idea how good this looks and how easy it is to read the UI with bold text - especially on large glorious gorgeous 4k displays: PS: Thanks for the work you do, Firefox  is great!   ...
