I'm personally a heavy tab user but have always wondered why there is almost no support for tab grouping or customization in the native tab bar in Firefox.

I think making it able to group like Google Chrome does for example or at least giving more access for extensions and add-ons would significantly improve the UI in that regard.

Even have this option in two-way sync, able to see in desktop the tabs in other devices by groups or send a tab to a group from a device to another, or maybe something like Edge workspaces but instead of sharing the workspaces with other person, share between devices, in that way you can keep working in a group "session" no matter in which device you are.

Is not necessary sync cookies, just the tab(url)

Tabs groups

Hi!

One thing that I use the most while I work with other browsers is the possibility to group up the tabs and adding a name and color (if it's possible customizable) to it.

I try to avoid using multiple windows because is quite annoying sometimes. While I'm, for example, studying, I need to separate the subjects somehow.

Could you add this kind of feature futurely?

Thnak you in advance!

I’ll be happy to return to Firefox on iOS and iPadOS when tab grouping has been implemented. I’ll be on a safari until then.

Hope they can develop it soon. Thanks to the team.

Awesome Tab Management Request!

It's really hard to believe that a modern browser like Firefox STILL has no way to manage and separate many open tabs! Even Safari, Vivaldi, and Opera offer this, referred to as Tab Groups or Work Spaces. 50–60 tabs opened at one time is VERY cluttered and unorganized to say the least.

I often find myself needing to arrange my tabs in different spaces or groups based on different projects. Example: A tab group for personal tabs, one for writing, one for video creation, and another tab group for online marketing, etc.

This is SUPREMELY more organized and useful! I am currently using a 3rd party extension called Simple Tab Groups, and it is amazing! However, it hasn't been updated in over a year, and by now this should be baked into Firefox natively.

Please, please, please, make this a priority feature in future versions of Firefox! 😍

@CuriousRo there's also another thread for workspaces here:

Workspaces à la Opera

This has over 3,800 up votes so far. I really hope Mozilla makes this a reality in Firefox.

It's close to 2025. Tab grouping must become a thing in Firefox.

@Jon Do you have an idea as to when that will be released to the public?

@eleczillaThe one thing I know with certainty, is that the beta version will get it before the stable version. But I always use the beta version as my daily driver anyway.

I know that is rather obvious, but I'm sure it will be released very soon too the beta channel.

I also switched to Chrome simply because it had tab grouping, but if Firefox adds it I would switch back in an instant.

For private use I use multiple accounts (school, shared, personal, etc) and use different groups of tabs for each of them, so I consider it a necessary feature now

Tab groups is a must

I use tab groups in other browsers but I can no longer use Firefox since there is no group functionality. It pains me to say this since Firefox is my main browser at work but I have to switch over to another browser. I hope this is functionality that is added soon so I can return.
