Not related to Firefox, but more of a new product idea.

I'm not aware of any keyboard app that could be considered as private by design. It seems the market for this is dominated by Microsoft with SwiftKey and Google With GBoard. It would be good if Mozilla made a keyboard app that was private but still had the features of the most popular keyboard apps.

@ADGrimesthat could be good, especially if it allowed for auto-fill from Firefox's password manager.

It is somewhat odd that Mozc was developed by Google, not Mozilla.

This has potential! I still haven't found a good (or "smart" one). Apple's keyboards from the original iPhones were smarter.

For example, I have NEVER needed to use the "£" sign (had to use charmap just now to look it up!) but some keyboards insist it be included. Where's the "°" symbol? Why can I only be shown one emoji per word? Why can't my commonly used symbols be prioritised? Why can't I turn off swipe, or the microphone icon! Why can't I search for emoji, or have my most commonly used emojis handy? How do I export/import my wordlist?

Those are some of my complaints - I've tried many keyboards and they all have significant issues that make life harder.

I happily used google gboard for many years on my iPhone until I recently realized that was a bad privacy move. Now I'm using the native iOS keyboard but I have found it to make a lot more errors and the swiping to type somehow doesn't feel as smooth. I would love a mozilla keyboard.

Input Method can be applied to desktops so I hope it will be realized.

I cannot say that all Password Managers have keyboard apps but I do know the LastPass has it built-in option for Android Input Method. The downsides are some of the quality of life features from other keyboards may not all be available.

But if you're trusting them with your passwords then I believe trusting them with your keyboard is not too far off.

It is a good option .  people are fed with gboard and need open source keybaord
