Recently, I had to use an Apple computer and it had the ability of suggesting passwords that are "easy to type", which seems to also be available on other platforms (https://support.apple.com/en-al/guide/ipad/ipadd11f1468/ipados). Something similar on Firefox would be really helpful since I sometimes have to type my passwords between devices for which I don't want to store passwords (public computers), but also have trouble typing the currently suggested passwords (generally hard to type or may have special characters not present on the keyboard, such as umlaut), so I have to resort to some unsecure alternatives, such as copying or mailing my own passwords. ... In Firefox desktop browser, Ctrl + k will focus the address bar so you can type in a web search. I've noticed same keyboard shortcut does nothing in the Show All History interface. Ctrl + k is in my muscle memory, and I sometimes invoke it in History search (to no avail!). I think it would be very handy for Ctrl + k to focus the Search History box in History search in the same way it already focuses the Address Bar in the browser proper. For situations where a large number of bookmarks are utilized and grouped into function/site/etc... folders,  being able to have just the relevant folder expanded would be a welcome convenience. As a regular user of Thunderbird, I receive emails from my bank that contain payment confirmation documents as PDF attachments. Now, to further process each attachment (forward, save, etc.) I need to click on its icon and wait till the preview loads in a separate window. Then I need to close the window, before I can proceed with the processing, remembering its contents first. Proposed Feature I propose a feature that allows for a automatic preview of PDF attachments directly within the email message window, either at the end of the message preview pane, or in a sidebar for wide screens. In Chrome, when using the memory tab, we can find leaks very easily by taking a snapshot, doing another task, going back to the original state, and then forcing garbage collection and taking another snapshot. On Firefox, there seems to be no such button, and we are forced to either navigate to about:memory or use an external plugin. When downloading an AppImage or an ELF binary (e.g. a .run file) and trying to run it from the Downloads drop-down, it shows this dialog box (Linux Mint here, but the dialog box is owned by the Firefox process): However, a .run or AppImage file is an application in itself. Usually, you'd chmod +x it and run the file itself. It doesn't make sense to use another program to run it when the file itself is runnable. There are many ways to fix this issue, including having a pre-set list of "usually runnable" file extensions or detecting ELF headers or shebangs and suggesting chmodding (with proper security notices) then running delegating the resposibility of launching the file to the distro/OS underneath, if it provides such mechanism. Unfortunately, xdg-open doesn't know about .run files for instance. The idea is to ask an AI interface questions and search for the answers in the websites stored in the bookmarks. You could also search just a part of the bookmarks, such as tags, folders or containers. This approach allows you to use your bookmarks as your personal knowledge base. I think this would be very useful for research, but also for private use cases. Maybe the answers you are looking for are already in the combined text body of your favorites? (In order to be able to check the answers, it would be useful to indicate the source, as Perplexity.ai does). Currently, I don't see the "X" button to close a tab when I hover over a tab. I don't see why I should have to select a tab in order to see the "X" button to close it. I also don't want to right click on a tab to get to the context menu to close a tab. I'm pretty savvy with keyboard shortcuts like Cmd+W and Option+Cmd+Left/Right, but if I can have another path to do what I want via trackpad/mouse I will take it. ... View more

Often a reply-all to a thread goes off topic. It's a good idea to change the subject line to indicate that. It can also be useful to send a new message to a group of email addresses by replying-all to a previous email to them and clearing the body. Currently, TBird keeps all of these in the original thread. I propose that changing the subject should start a new thread. This could replace the current behavior, or alternatively be a configuration choice for the user. I support @Flapjack's proposal for more extensive control, and suggest giving it a thumbs-up too. We get S/MIME user certificates for functional addresses (e.g. support@example.com) from a commercial provider that do not contain a Common Name, but just E-Mail in the DN and in the SAN. When rolling over to a new certificate, you have at least two of them in your Mozilla cert-store. If you have several functional addresses configured in your TB, it is impossible to find the correct certificate to change to, without seeing that e-mail-address (for those certificates without a CN). That means your only solution is to click yourself through every valid certificate in your list, until you find the right one. To avoid this senseless task, the table of "your certificates" should also display the e-mail from the SAN. Windows provides a workaround for the same problem in Outlook, by allowing you to set a "display name" for each of your user certificates in certmgr. ... View more
