Status: New idea

It's not secret that many people dislike the new changes to the menu and tabs viewer, further there are people who will not be able to use it or severely struggle to use it. By allowing us the option of which we use and see it will allow users to continue using our favorite and preferred android web browser as well as allow those who prefer the older style of menu and tab organization.

Yes, bring back the old menu! The new one is garbage! I can't use it, and I'll switch browsers if I can't switch menus.

Add to the tab settings option for large grid and small grid. The former 3x3 grid was so much better than 2x2 grid — I'm not a blind!

This new menu redesign chould be optional, or have a turn back option, (that was removed from secret menu)
I find it much harder to use this new menu redesign, is just bad, my user experience is so bad I just freeze on version 140.0, with extra steps to do simple actions and tabs barely visible, after so long without security updates, I think to my self The old design was excellent, user forever on insecure Firefox reason no other choice.

They said to give it time to get used to it. I gave it time, and I still can't use to this. If I wanted a menu that looks like this I'd be using Edge (and even Edge lets you customize it), but I don't. Give me a real menu again, please!

The bad ui redesign impossible revert in secret menu, I just want the choise, because the tabs are small hard to be seen, less responsive in daily use, have this anithing to do with an article I read about the Internet in 2026 is 70% bots no real users ?

Why the UI is Suddenly Irrelevant

If you’re a developer agonizing over a 50ms delay in a CSS hover-state, I have bad news: Most of your “users” don’t have eyes. They are browsing your site via headless browsers and residential proxies to look like a guy named Troy from Toronto, while they actually systematically scrape your pricing or scalp your inventory.

(That's Right they are Bots not Real Users and they will clap the browser is great, never complaining) Sad days ahead (-_-)

The fact that this has been top of the board in ideas for a good while now AND has appeared in two monthly recaps so far, yet they have completely ignored it? It speaks volumes about the people who made the UI changes in the first place.

If it wasn't obvious by this point that it was forced by the UI team upset that nobody liked their dog water UI changes yet, this just confirms it.

Everyone who made and signed off on these changes genuinely just shouldn't be allowed to touch UI designs ever again, or any designs for that matter.

My friends iceraven-2.43.1 is great updated and the tabs are not redesigned is so calming I can easily see the tabs, can someone tell me if the Firefox team did anything about it, a lot of thing's are going real bad in the world at least I can use my browser normally, I am happy.

In any idea you have 1 or 3 votes but on bring the old ui redesign the number voted (76).

Now can we have themes like the ones on windows, it was so cool before, then they were just removed, the excuse was security reason's, make it secure so we can use cool frutiger_kitsune-1.0.xpi

I prefer the new UI over the old one, but I can understand why people don't like these sudden changes. Firefox should offer the option to return to the old UI, even if it's just temporary (it's not easy to maintain different GUIs).

@HeavensGate

It's actually quite easy. They just have to care.

I'm glad you like the new UI, a lot of us prefer the old one. It's not even that they changed things, it's that they did broad sweeping changes after getting negative feedback for months over the potential changes. On top of the fact that the new UI shoots accessibility in the face.

I have autistic friends who adored the old UI for its simplicity and the fact that the tab tray could be pulled up and down to be able to see that current website they were on, and when that went away unceremoniously they couldn't handle the changes and were absolutely distraught. Sudden changes don't go over well with many people, especially those who need consistency and routine.

I have another friend who only has his right hand, making the old UI and 3 dot menu perfectly suited for him to use with his phone in hand and not laid on a table or his lap due to how they changed the app tray and 3 dot menu layouts. Now he can't use it without needing to constantly have something to prop his phone on on order to web browser. Also, he's stopped using Firefox all together. In his words "If they can't even think of people like me when they make their changes, I'm not going to bother using their app if I have to deal with change anyway"

  • So wheather it's preference or necessity, Mozilla **bleep**ed up and should at least try to make it better. Them burying their head in the sand now is just pigheaded.

I completely agree with this idea. Not everyone adapts to UI changes the same way, and the old tab viewer/menu layout was simpler and more comfortable for many users. Giving people the choice between the redesigned interface and the classic one would make Firefox feel more user-friendly and accessible for everyone instead of forcing a single design preference. Customization has always been one of Firefox’s biggest strengths, so having this option would make a lot of sense.

I think our only hope is Firefox for Android forks. But contrary to the comment above, for now all of them adopted this unusable UI, including Iceraven 2.43.1.

Hiding this topic from the list of most voted ideas tells a lot about Mozilla.

Unfortunately, I think that devs will ignore this request. The new layout is both wasted space (I don't need icons to remind me what is the text-search) and movement (the vast majority of websites have top left/right settings), but they are way too focused on the AI slop to bother with the users. As in the delayed ublock review process...
