Status: New idea

It's not secret that many people dislike the new changes to the menu and tabs viewer, further there are people who will not be able to use it or severely struggle to use it. By allowing us the option of which we use and see it will allow users to continue using our favorite and preferred android web browser as well as allow those who prefer the older style of menu and tab organization.

I'd like to emphasise that,  despite recent comments framing it as such, the disagreements with the new menu are not primarily 'preference' or dislike of change,  but instead are on  practical grounds - usability,  accessibility, functionality,  efficiency, aesthetic etc...  then, there is also preference for stability and discomfort with change.

Incorrect framing could allow important and well reasoned universal critiques to be written off as inevitable, autistic wailing.

I am autistic, BTW.

I'd personally vote for a return to the original menu and tab view with the ill considered new design consigned to the dustbin, rather than build in bloat.

Please bring back the old 3 dot menu for android. The new full screen UI is unnecessary and overwhelming to use every time we click it. Try to understand all age groups of people are using the browser and senior citizens like me. Literally all browsers were having the partial tall scroll-able menu older 3 dot menu had. Just bring back the old 3 dot menu, it was lean, modern and extremely functional.

The new UI is abusively inconvenient on my tablet. The old UI would allow me to tap the three-dot icon and have the options appear in a menu already under my thumb; now I have to move my hand down to the bottom of the tablet and reach for the option I want, with the displayed menu taking up four or more times the screen space the old menu did. And the new tab display option at least doubles the space taken up by the tab previews, easily pushing tab entries down off the bottom of the screen, forcing the user to scroll the display to see all the tabs, when it would previously take more than twenty tabs (when I would dig for information across a variety of websites) to require scrolling under the previous tab display UI. Give us the option to revert to the old style of menu and tab display.

Having the same feelings, it's definitely necessary.

Yes, @mans  the original post in this thread is the one to give kudos to.  Here: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/give-us-the-option-to-use-the-redesigned-3-dot-menu-and-tab/idi...

+1 for a full revert of the new full screen tabs container on Android. The previous "drawer" was snappier and more efficient, especially for one-handed use. The most fundamental issue is reported here, with an interesting response: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1979656

We intentionally moved from a bottom sheet to a full screen fragment here.

Why? Other mobile interfaces have migrated to bottom-drawer sliding dialog UX over the last few years, Firefox already had a head start with the tabs tray.

The actual change from a "dialog" to the full-screen menu happened in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1971400 - https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D255850 . Unfortunately this cannot simply be reverted to it's former presentation, too much has progressed since.

The new UX is a huge step back, as everyone else here has detailed. I do hope the developers take this design feedback seriously, despite the existing work having been done. New features like Tab Groups should have no trouble following the old design if it does get walked back.

I would really like the old 3 dot menu back. I strongly prefer the old tab viewer as well, but the 3 dot menu is far more important to me. My muscle memory is to tap the top right corner twice to reload the page, because a contact menu should open in the spot you tapped first, not somewhere else. Following my muscle memory now opens the menu then closes the menu. Why would I want that?

@WhyMustIDoThisYou definitely wouldn't. Same for having the tab viewer being more accessible with the thumb you use to scroll the browser. Why they insist on having everything so out or reach compared to the old menu and viewer is beyond me. I've been using a different browser on mobile (and desktop, but that's it's own category)since they changed everything and took away the ability to revert the menu changes, and everything being within reach and where I need it makes a browser so much simpler and easier to use, especially if you have a physical disability and don't want to have to put your phone down on a flatish surface each time you want to check the internet for something. If they just had the option to change everything back while continuing on with the new one they put so much ~~money~~ time into that'd be great! If I totally had my way the UI would be completely customizable with different modules and appearances to choose from. Then they could tout it as the ultimate accessibility and customization friendly design ever in a browser

@Crusader_Nejaa Which browser did you switch to?  I'm about ready to switch, since it doesn't look like Firefox will be fixing their mistake.

I totally agree, the new UI is an ugly attempt to follow Apple/Chrome design.

Honestly, this browser used to be about privacy and customization, what is happening?

@firefoxer1 I've been using Brave. It doesn't have the list view I like so much, but it has ad block baked in
