Progressive Web apps are an important feature of a browser that Firefox is the only one missing.
For some, it can be the reason to switch to another browser.
In other cases like for the Steamdeck, it's what imposed the choice to only include Chrome in the SteamOS interface.
Other problem even for avid Firefox users, since I wanted Social apps on my pc I had to get them on the Microsoft Store which is an Edge PWA that opens every link in an Edge window, making me use this... other browser.

@zannaHow, through the Unofficial PWA Extension?

@zannayou are using the extension aren't you? Because there's no such prompt on my machine, and that dialog is exactly the same as the one provided by the 'Progressive Web Apps for Firefox' extension

In fact you are right @palexdev, I made a mistake. Thank you for having corrected me!

Bring back PWA!

I'll use only Chromium based browsers until PWA will not work

There are literally 20 pages of comments on this topic. So why isn't Mozilla listening to his community? That should be the first thing an open-source project excels at: listening to his community.
It is useless if we just stay here and talk to ourselves, or say that we'll quit Firefox for this problem, secretly hoping to give Mozilla a wake up call.

I'm disappointed with this situation - at least, is there a good reason, why it hasn't already been done, or an official explanation that makes sense (other than "we don't like them")?

heard about Firefox os and wanted to replicate it on my Phone  by turning all of my apps into website shortcuts using Firefox. I still  believe this is the future.

Exactly this. No update on all these people.

Is there any progress ? Should we wait it ?

I am also interested in this.

Microsoft recently converted their Teams client to a PWA (for Linux at least). And since I am required to use Teams for work, it would be really nice to just install the PWA in Firefox.

PWA is a pretty common thing these days, so I consider Firefox a dead project. RIP Mozilla 🙏

i don't understand what pwa is and why we need it and what the difference are. why can't you not just use the app or the website version?

People come to your senses and stop mindlessly repeating "PWA". Write specifically: we want the ATHS function with the ability to run in a separate window with a minimal browser UI.
Of course, some APIs would be useful, but this is the bare minimum and meets the needs of most users.

The lack of support is actually keeping me away from Firefox. I'm following this thread hoping for a change - today PWA is essentail for my workflow. 😞

PWA is essential to my work flow. The lack of it keeps my away from my favorite browser. Sadly.

@MTpH9I'm not convinced that's all that's needed, especially for PWAs like microsoft teams. I'm pretty sure I want full PWA support, I don't care about add-to-home-screen
