unread email indicator should show at each level in subfolder tree.

thunderbird : subfolders: if there is an unread email in one of the subfolders, then only the actual subfolder and the top level folder show the number of unread emails. the intermediate folders do not. very annoying to find the unread email if it is located several subfolders deep.

I'm pretty sure this used to work - but no longer does - i'm on version 115.3.3 (64-bit). I get the unread email marker at the top level of folder - but i have to manually open each and every sub folder - down the hierarchy, to find the new email. The unread email icon should be visible at each level of the folder hierarchy, down to where the new email sits - in my case put there by one of the inbox rules.
