Don't show all the apps just show only the apps that you have disabled and show a add button. This looks nice and clean if you look at what it has now.
Thanks for the idea! I think we are on the same page 🙂 As of 2.15 (not yet released - but soon!), we will be cleaning up this UI quite a bit, removing the 'Protect all apps with the VPN' toggle, and automagically moving the already excluded apps to the top of the list. This should help unclutter the UI and prepare the ground for some extra magic we want to sprinkle on top in future versions 😉
@Santiago thank you. I have one more small idea for mozilla vpn. I know i need to make a new post for this but i have now contact with you so sorry for this. When you switch on mozilla vpn i don't always get a notification on my notification screen that mozilla vpn is on. I need to switch on then off then on to see that it is connected. A other little thing is that i can swipe the notification away when it is on and if that happens i don't know anymore if it is on or off. So my little request is to force ping the notification so that you can't swipe it away anymore or atleast give the option to do it. The reason why i request this is because of my old vpn that forced ping it. I know the text is long because i typed to much about it so sorry for that.
Hi Jeppi -- no worries. On which platform is this about?
On mobile we currently do keep the 'VPN Connected' notification while the VPN is on, but we are going to be changing that to be dismiss-able, given that most mobile OS do keep a 'key' or 'VPN' icon present somewhere in the UI (typically at the top right). You don't get that on your phone? What OS are you on?
@Santiagoi don't think that key thing only isn't a great idea after what i experienced today. When i looked on my notifications screen i didn't saw the mozilla vpn icon in blue and that means on but it was grey and that means off. But the key was still there so i went to the mozilla vpn app and it said it was off. I know that that key only thing is a option but still i think that notification ping is the best thing what is showed in the picture that i send. And the worst thing was that i didn't get any notification that the vpn was off.
That might actually be a bug on our app 🙂 If the key is present, then most likely you are still VPN'ing and somehow the app got out of sync. When this happens again, would you mind checking if you are still VPN'ing? You can see that by checking your IP origin here: https://whatismyipaddress.com/
@Santiago so it happened again. As you asked i clicked on the link and it said that i was in abu dhabi but i didn't put my vpn place there and i don't live there. So i clicked on the mozilla vpn icon from notification screen and reloaded the website and it said then the correct vpn location. After that i switched off the vpn and reloaded the website then it showed almost my correct location. So you can say it is working but not in the place where i want it and that is creepy.
I suspect the website was simply wrong the first time around. There is no way you could be actually VPN'ing from Abu Dhabi since we don't have servers there.
I think this confirms that indeed the VPN app crashed (while keeping you still protected in practice, which is the most important thing). The 'key icon' was actually quite important in this case because it acted as a more reliable indicator that indeed you are still protected. (and of course, we still have to fix the situation of the app crashing in the first place)
Yeah then there is something wrong about the site. So if there is a key I'm always connected with the vpn server even if the app says that I'm not connected to the vpn? It's annoying that I've only had mozilla vpn for a week and I'm already causing problems for you guys. I'm sorry
Yes, the key is probably the most reliable way, as it's triggered by the operating system. It's rare that the app could crash but it's possible. And please - you are helping us! Thanks for reaching out!
