When searching for a bookmark in Manage Bookmarks, Firefox doesn't show the folder containing the bookmark(s) that were found. It would be helpful if Firefox showed the folder where the existing bookmarks are found.
BMS+ 2 is dead now, what a pity! With FF built in BM-manager you are able to create bookmarks too of course. You can even create folders to gather bookmarks of specific themes to separate folders. But: Let's say you've got a hundred folders with different themes after some years - yes then you will only be able to find a specific bookmark - but there will be no possibility to show the path of the found bookmark - as far as i can see. Bookmarks search plus - on the other hand - always showed the bookmark in the folderpath - not only the result of the search itself. Would be VERY nice if you could implement this simple 'system operating function' to FF. Thank you very much! pro
It is still there, so I'm not clear on the problem. Did it stop working for you in Firefox 100?
Regarding identifying the folder, Firefox recently got a new context menu option. After you conduct your search, right-click the bookmark and choose Show in Folder to flip the view back to the folder hierarchy with that bookmark selected.
Would this help? Adding to what jscher2000, when you do a search in the bookmark manager, right click on a result, and you will see the option "Bookmark Path". A mouse hover will reveal the folder
Thanks. I see the right-click content menu that is very unintuitive. As you said, selecting the "show in folder" feature looses the results of the search. A much better feature would be to show the name of the folder along with the other information already listed for the bookmark.
I sometimes forget where I put a bookmark. I can detect its existence by using the search function on the Manage Bookmarks page, but that doesn't help me to find it. It should be a simple fix to add a column on the search results to display the folder where the bookmark resides. Thanks for listening.
Bookmarks...can you add a feature that will let me search my bookmarks? I have a LOT of bookmarks and some I visit only every now and then. Being able to search for them in all those bookmark folders would be pretty handy. Thank you.
Showing the folders the various links found by the search will train myself to remember how I've been organized and maybe help me to re-organize the links. If the "Show in Folder" already proves the availability of the data, it should be an easy programming effort to display it within a column.
@noel_envoideWhich version of FF are you using? In FF 102.0.1 under Windows 10, I don't see anything like the context menu you posted. What I see is attached. The closest I can find to "Bookmark path" is "Show in Folder". This does exactly what it says, losing my search results.
Ideally, the search window should have an additional column, "Path", which would show the path to the bookmark in the bookmarks directory tree, or a corresponding "Path" field in the properties pane below the results list. I have a lot of bookmarks and often wind up with duplicates which I filed differently, having this information available *in the search window* would make it a lot easier for me to prune these out.
