Please fix the skinny scroll bars in Thunderbird. I have tried everything in the about:config to no avail. I can't go on with them having a thin width. And keep them visible.
Yes, it would help immensely to have the scrollbars and the scrollbar arrows always visible. The parts of the scrollbar convey useful information to the user. And having well-defined scrollbar arrows again would be wonderful. UI elements that are visible! What a concept! Windows 7 had perfect scrollbars and at least having an option for something like that again would be wonderful.
Please, please, please! I'll make another donation!
This issue has been up for three years at the time of writing, yet the scrollbars remain as emaciated and impossible to grab with the mouse as ever.
Please observe below my L>R screenshot on a 32" monitor showing how narrow they are (between Date and Subject). So tiny it takes many attempts to grab the scrollbar.
Given the amount of time this issue has been sitting here, it is apparent the development team are satisfied with this behaviour. However it is obvious that many are not satisfied with this behaviour, and are frustrated by the minuscule width of the scrollbars. So why not allow users to choose between wide or skinny (or no scrollbar as one correspondent above preferring scrollwheel has requested?)
@dwmusic Did you miss the fact it is the operating system width of a scroll bar? It is sitting here because all these people are complaining about scroll widths on Windows that Microsoft changed in the Windows operating system.
@brknhrt It is not my solution. I decided long ago that it was not a fight I would win, so I am working to get used to the new clunky interface with the scroll bars that include irrelevancies and other truly off-putting artefacts. If your changes to windows did not work for you, perhaps address your issue to Microsoft. I understand they have a paid support line to help users of their operating system. I am also sure there is a similar Mozilla specific hacks for Thunderbird and Firefox. I have seen it mentioned in the support forums, although I never bothered to read all the digest to the end. But this is not user support and I am not offering you support.
