From the previous post on Crowdicity:

I would like to see vertical tabs baked in. MS Edge now has it out of the box!

I currently use addons for this - but there's no way to disable the top tab bar, which duplicates the tabs and takes up space.

Vertical tabs (with top bar disabled) would free up more space for web content, which is (usually) vertical. Most screens are widescreen (RIP ThinkPad 4:3 ratios), so the less browser UI at the top/bottom, the more content we can view.

Actually, there is a vertical tabs in Firefox. The vertical tab button will appear next to the new tab button when there are many open tabs.

The above post is not an example of vertical tabs. That is a tab list. You cannot interact with the tabs in a meaningful way. Please look at how Microsoft Edge or Vivaldi handles vertical tab bars to get a better understanding of what is being asked for.

This would be an awesome feature to have for my X230T. The vertical resolution of its display is really limiting, and this would allow me to make better use of it.

Give us vertical tabs.

I think this is an essential feature request. Firefox needs to adapt this feature like other browsers.

Would be great to have something like TST, but performant: TST is pretty laggy if you have a lot of tabs open. I might have tried Sidebery, but it conflicts with Simple Tab Groups.

I will switch to Firefox immediately once this is delivered. Edge is causing me grief but the vertical tabs are a game-changer that I can’t give up. The various addons don’t do it as well as the native Edge implementation.

How many YEARS old has this suggestion been ignored now?  Multiple ideas and suggestions forums Mozilla created and this is in every single one as rather popular but nothing continues to be done whatsoever!

Now Microsoft leads on something innovative??  Firefox used to be the customizable browser for user freedom... let the add-ons go free!  (by letting them hide the tab bar.)  Also making new features use add-ons before building them in would be wise... perhaps too wise to be possible...

Why do developers not develop features that users want and implement incomplete counterproposals? We are not asking for just an additional list of tabs. I can understand they don't like to imitate other browsers, but Firefox has been developed for the public interest and should not satisfy the pride of the developers.

I'm doing my part chiming in here but this feature needs to happen. I know we have TST and Sidebery, but neither of these are native and neither actually replace the native tab bar. I'd rather not have 25% of my screen taken by tab space. The process to remove the native tab bar is ridiculous, especially for someone like me who uses many computers and switches operating systems often.

I would love to be able to hide the tabs at the top and have a sidebar.

I would use Vivaldi but now that chromium browsers aren't gonna have adblock, firefox has a monopoly for me.
