DuckDuckGo has this feature. It blocks many trackers in other apps on your device. And I hate the fact that I have to download another browser to have App Tracking Protection. Firefox, please add this feature to your browser.
1Blocker X does a good job of this on iOS and I think there are some Android options like the DDG app as @Anonymous suggests. I think if Mozilla did an app, maybe make it a separate part of their VPN app or bake it into Firefox, it would go some way to show people how serious it is about privacy. It may even increase revenue if it worked side by side with the VPN.
I mention the VPN app because these App Tracker Protection with DDG or 1Blocker actually use an internal VPN to do the blocking. Maybe make this free as it works within the device and the actual VPN service paid for as it relates to an external connection?
i like to have this too because i use the duckduckgo version for that but i hate it that i need to install that just for that because it isn't my default browser.
Mozilla needs to make app tracking protection too. Many people downloaded ducduckgo for just that. Mozilla can add it in firefox, make a separate app or add it in mozilla vpn like free plan haves app tracking protection, paid plan 1 haves app tracking protection and vpn or paid plan 2 haves app tracking protection and vpn at same time(if possible) or make paid plan 2 just paid plan 1.
@Jeppie I'll share with our internal teams in case it's already on our radar.
And in terms of making an idea more popular, sometimes it just needs more visibility—sharing/promoting it elsewhere (other forums, social channels, etc.) could potentially give it a boost 📈
I have a nice idea for this product idea. You need to put in the mozilla vpn app as free plan and the paid plan includes mozilla vpn. The best thing is that this works on the same time but you can also do this. Give multiple options how to use this app. Option 1 is put atp always on. Option 2 is put mozilla vpn always on. Option 3 is put mozilla vpn on when using the mobile and put atp on when the phone is in sleep mode(standby mode) by this people don't need to change everything manually anymore and they won't forget to change it anymore like me. XD option 4 is both at the same time but we don't know if this is possible. If you have option 3 and/or option 4 more people will download the mozilla vpn app and you will get higher chance that people will buy the paid plan because of those options. So you can say it's a win win for mozilla and the people. Maybe you need to change the app name then because people will know this feature exist or you can also put it in the browser like ddg but then you will not get those amazing options. Think about it when you go in development. (atp means app tracking protection)
Nice idea @Jeppie! I think option 4 may not be possible as Android and iOS only support one VPN connection at a time, but the rest sounds good. It could all be bundled into an app called Mozilla Shield, just as I think we discussed here.
