Pressing Shift + Delete to remove an address bar result is extremely hard to discover. Firefox should add a button that lets users get rid of unwanted autocomplete matches. Chromium browsers have this feature.

Also for filling forms, like in MSEdge. And for downloads, to make it more obvious you can delete it right out fo the pop-up

If this idea is implemented then please have an option to opt out of it and keep things the way they are.

As a keyboard user I am concerned that any such buttons would double the gnumber of arrow key presses needed to navigate through the list.

For example, whereas now you need 5 presses of the down key to get to the 5th item in the list, if you also have to arrow past each item's 'remove' button as well, then this might mean 10 key presses are needed.

By all means give people these buttons, but please offer it as a choice.

"if you also have to arrow past each item's 'remove' button as well, then this might mean 10 key presses are needed."

No one would ever make a browser GUI behave like that. The button would in fact appear only next to the currently highlighted browsing entry, as it does in other browsers. Pressing down would obviously still highlight and go to the next entry, and not select the button.

Anyway, as a technical user, you can create a userChrome.css file to hide any unwanted button or label from Firefox.

@Anonymous, I mentioned it because this has already happened with the overflow menu.

In FF108 they added a new options gear button to many items in this list, which also need to be arrowed past, and hence have increased the amount of keyboard navigation needed to get to items.

But again, by all means give people these buttonss, just please allow us an option to either not have them, or at least choose a different key to focus them than the up and down arrow keys.

@TechHorseThat sounds more like an oversight. There's a chance nobody at Mozilla even tested the overflow menu with their arrow keys after adding those buttons. The Tab key would be the natural choice to move to the options button if you ever needed it. You could file a bug report about it.

The address bar, on the other hand, is something that all people working on Firefox use with their arrow keys all the time. Nobody would ever mess it up that badly. If the arrow keys selected the remove button in the first mock-up, the same person who created it would notice and fix it right away.

Add ability to quickly delete a URL from Firefox Suggest

It would be good if there was a way to delete a URL quickly from Firefox Suggest so that it doesn't come up in future. Perhaps a cross at the end of the URL suggestion when you hover over it or being able to press the delete key when hovering. Something like this would be good.
