Further to my last post, instead of pressing ctrl+L you could press alt+D to focus the address bar. Then 'duplicating' a tab would be achieved by pressing alt+D then alt+enter.Or holding down alt then pressing D then enter.

x3_kate, a possible workaround is to press ctrl+L then alt+enter. ctrl+L will focus the address bar, alt+enter will open the URL in a new tab. Note, this may not work if there is currently text other than a URL in the address bar.
