I think it would be helpful if it was possible to add custom fields (or a textarea for notes) to stored passwords to securely store additional information (like security questions, customer support pins, etc.)

Additionally it would be nice to be able to store and sync other credentials and information in Firefox, that don't link to websites, like (recovery-)keys for BitLocker/TrueCrypt/LUKS-LVM partitions, WiFi Passwords and Credit Cards. Of cause you won't have auto-fill, etc., but it wouldn't cause any harm to have more like a "Firefox secure wallet"...

agree.  have about the same # of extensions added.

I think devs have their hands full keeping up with security and existing features.
It ain't like anyone is getting rich off dev'ing for FFx.

No one has taken this on as their pet project, like someone must have for the recent VPN. With all the decent VPNs available, and a few great free ones, why'd anyone bother?

but it's been a decade since I 1st asked.  should have taken up coding then, heh, heh, heh.

I am managing online banking accounts for me and my children. As a workaround, in order to distinguish the account ids in the password manager, i put my name (or my child's) after the account id, but then in the Autofill I need to remove my name. So yes, it would be very helpful to have a comment field.

Another use case is that I manage my internet router as well as my parents', for both the URL is "fritz.box" and the user is actually blank, so I also need a way to distinguish. Firefox

I would like to see this feature implemented in Firefox rather than through an external program, because I use a Mac, a Linux machine, and a Windows machine, and I need the sync function. In FF, that function works across all platforms.

Putting that feature in an add-on would be kind of delegating security to a third party while we trust Mozilla for security. I really do not understand why this is not already a feature in the password manager.

We need to be able to identify various security accounts for the same address,  a simple optional field would do that at almost no expense

It just doesn't make sense to delegate FF security to an add-on.

Being able to differentiate various logins to a web site requires sometimes to have an optional  field (because the login ref is not an email by a number for instance).

It is stunning that it is not yet inside the password manager.

Security is managed by FF, delegating that feature to an add-on would be delegating security.

We trust password manager, wait for it to be more user friendly allowing to give a name to a login so as to be able to distinguish between several.

I do not understand it is not in the product from the start.

Comment field in Password Manager

I'd like a comment field in the password manager. I have a lot of saved passwords, and the web address isn't always enough to determine which site they belong to.

Hi Jon,
Back in 2022 you said this was being looked at - is it actually moving???
Could always throw it at the Thunderbird crew - who seem to issue updates at least one a week!!!

@Kramt421 you're right, this is due for an update - the latest update from the team is that it's on their radar but still not in active development - sorry for the delayed response! But when there is some movement/concrete plans, we'll let you all know here. In the meantime, keep the votes and feedback coming - that could potentially push the work forward a bit.

Password Manager

It would be great if I could add notes to the Password Manager, currently only has domain, username and password fields...

Sometimes I have something I want to note about a particular website, etc. and I'd love to put it in a per login 'Notes' within the password manager.

Feels like a very easy one to do...

Thanks!
