I think it would be helpful if it was possible to add custom fields (or a textarea for notes) to stored passwords to securely store additional information (like security questions, customer support pins, etc.)

Additionally it would be nice to be able to store and sync other credentials and information in Firefox, that don't link to websites, like (recovery-)keys for BitLocker/TrueCrypt/LUKS-LVM partitions, WiFi Passwords and Credit Cards. Of cause you won't have auto-fill, etc., but it wouldn't cause any harm to have more like a "Firefox secure wallet"...

it's totally crazy not having this field and it's why I will not use firefox. I think devs dont use firefox. I have password with codes, stored for external app, and I have to apply notes to remember what is.

After a few years I tried tu use once again FF, I just imported password and I am not able to figure what password should I look for.

An older user is sharing a similar feedback in SUMO. Their primary concern is they want to differentiate multiple passwords (when they have multiple accounts) from the same website.

Password - Add a line for comments

Hi

The password manager is very useful.
It would be good to add a section for free comments
(What is this website for?, who in my family is it intended for?, the password should be changed on such and such a date, ...).

Thanks,
Pascal

Notes on entries

I suggest adding a notes feature to the password manager, similar to the one in the Comet browser. It's practical.

comment field in password database

It would be very useful if there were a comment field in the password database. It would make looking up a password much easier. For example, I could enter "firefox site", "linux support", "financial", etc.

I have also requested for tags to group similar credentials, the same way we group emails.

4 years later and this basic feature has not been implemented while AI slop has?

Missing this too. As long as it's not implemented, we should keep commenting/like this to push it up Mozilla's radar.

I really don't understand why all this time without this simple feature. Simple but very useful and, I can say mandatory at this point, since all others main brothers have it.
Personally I don't ask nothing complicated, just a simple field "comment" or "note" with a limited characters to apply.

After requesting this many years ago and no response, I think devs have other things in mind, since there are other free methods available that do the job.

if you're on a Mac, move on to a pw manager.  Whether MacOS or Enpass or whatever.

Enpass allows custom fields
These do a good job of pw management.  Enpass has a Firefox extension as well.

Hello this idea was first raised in 2022 and got a lot of good comments.

Jon, the community manager said it had been sent to the password manager team (back ion 2022).

Can we know what the password manager team did about it ? Everybody seems to say iot's a great idea so what is going on with it ? Could we have an update ?

@metropical  to be honest I think this feature should be internal, and not given by an extention, due to his nature. Furthermore user should avolid install too many addons. This in general speaking of course.
Firefox is a bood browser but, should be good as it is, not because user are forced to install external apps.
I personally have 28 addons installed, where a good % of this apps are there just to make something that the browser should do itself, for example a website (specific address) blocker, a cookie manager, a useful speed dial, a one-click translator, a session saver/manager etc.
That's why I hope in this feature, because I'm trying to avoid install further addons.
