I think it would be helpful if it was possible to add custom fields (or a textarea for notes) to stored passwords to securely store additional information (like security questions, customer support pins, etc.)

Additionally it would be nice to be able to store and sync other credentials and information in Firefox, that don't link to websites, like (recovery-)keys for BitLocker/TrueCrypt/LUKS-LVM partitions, WiFi Passwords and Credit Cards. Of cause you won't have auto-fill, etc., but it wouldn't cause any harm to have more like a "Firefox secure wallet"...

Here a direct link to the repository:
https://github.com/Hitchhikers11/password-notes-extension

Adds a free-text Info field to each saved login in Firefox's built-in password manager (about:logins). The note also appears as a third line in the browser's password autocomplete dropdown.

Title: Add custom notes to saved passwords and login suggestions

Hello,

I would like to request the ability to add a custom note or description to each saved login in Firefox Password Manager.

I have several accounts for the same website, and their usernames are similar, for example:

  • ch1234

  • ch4567

  • ch5467

When Firefox displays these usernames in the login autocomplete menu, it is difficult to remember which account belongs to which customer, project, shop, or purpose.

It would be very helpful if users could add a short custom note to every saved login, for example:

  • ch1234 — Customer A

  • ch4567 — Test account

  • ch5467 — Main store

The note should ideally be visible:

  1. In Firefox Password Manager.

  2. In the username/password autocomplete suggestions displayed on login forms.

  3. When editing the saved login.

The note would only be a user-defined label and would not need to be submitted to the website as part of the login form.

This feature would make managing multiple accounts for the same domain significantly easier and would reduce the risk of accidentally selecting the wrong account.

Thank you for considering this feature.

Add Password description field

Add a description field to accounts in the password manager. It is not always clear from the username what a particular password refers to.

This would be hugely useful, even just for a note-to-self to differentiate multiple accounts. Similarly, there is an open issue that is also 4 years old for adding nicknames to saved bank cards: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/saved-credit-card-label-description-field/idi-p/3223

These are small usability issues that would save people tons of time and headaches! Much more important than rounded UI in my opinion!

Impossible to go back to ff without having notes on password

I don't understand. This thread was opened 4 years ago to simply request a free note attached to any password so that we can choose between 2 passwords for the same web site. It would take almost no time for the "password team" to do it.

Instead of adding funny fancy things to FF why not one day add something useful requested by the users ?

Can somebody at FF answer why something the users want, is easy to implemnet and brings value to the product is NOT taken in account. Stop playiong with interface, AI, I don't know what and start doing something your users are waiting for.
