Current Situation:
The Firefox New Tab page currently offers a few useful widgets (like shortcuts or recent activity), but it lacks a built-in calendar or a quick way to check the date.

The Problem:
Many users frequently need to check today's date or glance at the current month's layout while working or browsing. Currently, they have to rely on their operating system's clock, open a calendar application, or search for a calendar website, which interrupts their browsing flow.

Proposed Solution:
Introduce a new native "Calendar" widget for the New Tab page. This widget should have the following features:

  • Prominently display today's full date at the very top.
  • Show a classic monthly calendar view directly below, displaying the current month and year.
  • Include simple navigation buttons (like left and right arrows) allowing the user to easily browse past and future months right from the widget.

Yes to a calendar. We need a more extensive library of widgets to choose from.

Yes to a calendar and a good standard for browser widgets for for swapping widgets across all browsers like Manifest V4.
Sort of like an app that runs on Linux and Windows.
