I reported this first in October 2021, but apparently nothing has been done.
If you re-order tabs (by long-press and then drag), the tab DOES move. The problem is that as soon as you open another tab, the one you moved snaps back to its original position. This is NOT how it used to work and is extremely unfriendly.
Using an iPad Pro 11 inch with iPad OS 16.5.1 (c), though this has obviously been happening for some time. This appears to be a regression.

I have the same problem. Any solution?

More than 2 years later, this remains a problem. This is not a feature request--this is a reversion! This capability used to work flawlessly and has been damaged in a past version of iOS. Someone please initiate some action on this!

Between this and the inability to rearrange my shortcuts, this is the least user friendly browser I've tried in ages. It works alright on my Win laptop, but on the ipad it's a bad joke. I revisit it every x months, and am stunned to see this is still unaddressed. These features aren't nice to haves. The ability to sort information the way the user wants is crucial.
