Feature Requests & Core Optimizations Needed for Firefox Android

Making moves

Hey Firefox team,

I’ve been trying to stick with Firefox on my phone because I really want to support the project (and having uBlock Origin is great), but it’s getting genuinely hard to keep using it as my daily driver.

The biggest issue right now is just general performance. Pages load noticeably slower than on Chromium browsers, and scrolling on heavier sites feels super jittery. It also seems to drain my battery way faster and makes my phone run warm, even when I just have a few tabs open.

Feature-wise, the lack of tab groups is a massive pain point. Pretty much every other browser has had this for years, and managing tabs without it is just a mess. Also, having to rely on an extension like Dark Reader just to get dark mode on websites bogs down the performance even more. A native dark mode for web contents would make a huge difference.

On top of all that, there are still annoying bugs. I regularly get weird glitches when trying to fullscreen videos, and sometimes tabs just silently freeze up and stop loading until I completely close and reopen them.

I really want Firefox to succeed, but the mobile version desperately needs under-the-hood optimization and basic quality-of-life updates to catch up to the competition. Please prioritize performance and basic UI features like tab grouping!
