Thunderbird - Trash/delete button beside star in cards view

It would provide an easy one click option to delete an email without clicking the email itself and opening it.  Adding a trash button next to the star button in card view would be helpful without actually opening up the email much like how it is in Outlook would be very helpful.

It would be so nice to just go through my inbox and delete/archive/junk/mark as [un]read/star items at quick glance with one single click.

In a world where other email apps offer that and/or offer swipe gestures for those same actions to remove extra steps, it seems silly that Thunderbird currently offers neither (or it does offer a one-click button but just for marking a message with a star which can be be much less frequently used compared to delete/archive.)

This should definitely be added to help streamline common actions & meet the convenient conventions of other email clients (swipe gestures would also be great for similar reasons, but the icon buttons [maybe only showing the full set of actions on mouseover/focus, if clutter is a concern?] would be a more universal improvement.)

Yes, that's like Outlook, but it's a good idea.

This would be very helpful. As others have pointed out, when you have a large number of emails to sort through, having a one-click delete feature makes it so much less painful.

I just changed over to Thunderbird and this is the only feature I think is missing. Where can I go to vote for it? Has anyone made an extension that does this? I do some programming, is there an easy way to add this?

Also just voted for this, I was actually kind of susprised by finding it was not implemented, to the point I dug into the settings for a few minutes until accepting it was simply not there 🙂

I very much agree with this -- that delete button would make transitioning my people out of Outlook a lot easier!

I have to strongly agree -- this feature would go a long ways towards helping people transition off Outlook into Thunderbird.   I'm currently converting a couple and both brought this very issue up, and after I did some Googling for them for a while I saw that it wasn't a feature.   They really used that feature in Outlook and that was the only complaint they had.

I have suggested this several times in the past, and from other comments, others would also like this feature, I really don't see what the big issue would be in adding this feature. You already have a star and the ability to add and remove tags, so why not a trash bin to DELETE TRASH EMAILS ???
