Thunderbird - Trash/delete button beside star in cards view

It would provide an easy one click option to delete an email without clicking the email itself and opening it.  Adding a trash button next to the star button in card view would be helpful without actually opening up the email much like how it is in Outlook would be very helpful.

Another vote to add this. Having it behind the three dots isn't really ideal. Since, like many I'd think, I get a lot of mail that I can quickly decide to delete, having this button on the card itself would make that workflow much easier.

So much for open source customizability lol.  Not like this isn't also available by default in major competitors like Outlook either.  

But for some reason we did get a hardcoded Star, a feature I've never once used in my life

Exactly. A stupid Star button you can barely make-out in dark mode which I have NEVER used. 

Put a Trash button where the Star button is now!! And slide the Star button all the way to the left corner. While we're still young.

Lately I've been forced to use Outlook. One think I appreciate is that it has what we are asking for. See image.

It's absolutely necessary.
The only thing that Gmail and Outlook have that Thunderbird doesn't have is the trash bin. Having a trash bin means you can move emails with peace of mind.
