Currently, when you delete an email, a dialogue pops up to confirm your action, which seems less efficient to me.

Instead, I'd suggest an undo button at the bottom for a few seconds.

I'd also include an undo function when sending an email.

My immediate reaction was that you could go to the "Trash" folder and then move the email back to the "Inbox" but then I could not find any possibility to move or copy emails to another location. On Thunderbird desktop I often use copy or move for emails so I will look at opening another Idea with this suggestion.

After a bit of searching around I found the "Move" and "Copy" function.

When an email is open you can open the menu at the top right and open the menu item "Refile" at that point various options will open for the curent email including "move" and "copy"

Hi all,

About the deletion confirmation, I personally prefer confirming instead of cancelling a deletio. But anyways, why not just go and restore it from the bin?

I think @axel idea is a good idea. It's a fast way to undo and accidental action you've done for example when you are cleaning the inbox folder by swiping messages to the trash folder: if your finger has been faster than your mind (or you doubt it) your can than undo by just one tap instead of the other 'normal' and longer way. As the message is back to the inbox you can then decide again paying more attention. Just one tap, I think very useful, I'll use it.

Samsung Mail on Android has a an an undo function. I don't use it often but it would be nice to have on Thunderbird.

I totally second this suggestion. Swipe to delete is more prone to error, yet very efficient. A 10s undo button seems to be a standard these days

Yes please, this should be the default for all swiping actions. Sometimes I accidentally trigger an action while scrolling or refreshing and don't even know what happened just now or what message from which mailbox was affected.

The problem with "just restore it from deleted items" is if your deleted items contains 200+ items. As the contents of that folder are sorted by date received it's impossible to know which item was accidentally deleted. So we need either:

  1. The ability to sort deleted items by date deleted
  2. Access to an action log to see what email was recently deleted
  3. An undo function (time limited better than nothing)

Yes please. We have all done it .. accidentally deleted an email that we wanted. Yes, we could go digging in the trash to find it , but an undo button would be far more convenient.

Yes please, I'm just transitioning from FairEmail and I am very much used to this feature!

Hi, a history of recent actions would be sublime. But a simple "UNDO" feature is common sense with an email client. Why has this not been created yet?!?!

The solution is either:

1. Enable the setting to have to confirm every deletion to avoid accidental deletions. Workflow killer.

2. Go through a multi-step process to find and move the email from some Trash folder. Noob killer.

3. A floating "Undo delete" button appears for x seconds and doesn't impede workflow (x > 5 seconds).

Number 3 is by far the most efficient and discoverable solution for Thunderbird for Android. 🙂
