Hi there,
I'd like to be able to export events as a simple .ics-file. This has various reasons (e.g. sharing with others without getting updates) and I have seen this being requested by many others before.
I know there is a work-around if you copy an event and then paste it into a text editor, but this seems like an awfully crude way to do something that should be super simple.
I think that would be simple yet very valueable addition.
Kind regards

There's an extension that advertises this feature called CalendarSearchExport. I haven't gotten it to work myself (clicking the button provides no indication of either success or failure).

The copy and paste method hasn't worked for me - re-importing the event to test if it works results in null fields. This may be because of the particular settings of my text editor, which if anything really shows the flaws in this method of event exporting.

A first-party ICS file export button, ideally in the "open" event dialog, would be the ideal solution for my needs.

Why do I need an .ICS file? I'm sharing the event over a forum, which Thunderbird cannot natively send invites through.

EDIT: that extension started working today. Not sure exactly what changed, but it's still a clunky workflow. At least it's better than copy & paste into a file and hope your editor doesn't mess up the file.
