If a new tab is opened from a member of a tab group, currently the new tab will not be part of any group, or, worse, become part of the next group over if two tab groups are next to each other. This behavior might be affected by tab-opening settings, e.g. if new tabs are next to the source tab or at the end of the tab list. In the case of new tabs being next to the source tab, the behavior should 100% be that the tab remains in the original tab group.

Making moves

When opening a new tab from within a tab group, the ideal behavior should ensure that the new tab is automatically added to the same group, especially when the browser's tab-opening settings place new tabs next to the source tab. This consistency prevents the new tab from being left ungrouped or mistakenly assigned to a neighboring group, which can cause confusion and disrupt organization. Ensuring that new tabs inherit the group affiliation of their source tab provides a more intuitive and seamless browsing experience, aligning with the expected behavior for users managing grouped tabs.
