Dear Firefox Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share a suggestion that I believe could significantly enhance the safety and security of Firefox users worldwide. With the digital landscape evolving rapidly, ensuring a secure browsing experience has never been more crucial. I recently became aware that Google is taking strides in AI integration to improve browser safety, prompting me to think about the potential for Firefox in this area.

The core of my suggestion involves the integration of AI technology to scan and evaluate websites in real-time for potential threats such as phishing attempts, malware, adult content, and other harmful materials. This feature would be particularly innovative as it would assess the safety of websites not only from search results but also when users enter a URL directly into the browser. This preemptive analysis could serve as a robust layer of protection, warning users before the page loads if the content is deemed unsafe or inappropriate.

Such an AI-driven feature could leverage advanced machine learning algorithms to continuously learn and adapt to new threats, ensuring Firefox remains at the forefront of user security. This would not only protect users from explicit and dangerous websites but also foster a safer online environment for younger users and those who might inadvertently stumble upon harmful content.

Implementing this feature could position Firefox as a leader in providing a safe, secure, and family-friendly browsing experience. It aligns with the increasing user demand for privacy-focused and secure digital tools, further cementing the reputation of Firefox as a user-centric browser.

I understand that integrating such technology involves complex considerations, including privacy, accuracy, and user choice. However, I believe the Firefox team, known for its commitment to innovation and user security, is well-equipped to tackle these challenges.

I am eager to hear your thoughts on this suggestion and whether there are any plans or considerations for such AI integration in the Firefox roadmap. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to improving the digital experience for users around the world. I look forward to your response and am excited about the potential for these enhancements in Firefox.

Best regards,

Joshua

No

No need to create the AI war: those who attack and those who defend.

I prefer: no AI at all.

Hi Erwan,

I do not agree the suggestion is creating any AI war.

AI should be used to enhance humanity for good.

The internet is not safe, what do you suggest?

Regards,

Joshua

1- “Internet is not safe, what do you suggest?”

>the internet is a tool, it is neither safe nor unsafe, it is a space of total freedom.

It's humans who have a problem, they're the ones who aren't sure. It is therefore up to humans to solve their problems.

2- What's the point of putting AI everywhere if it's just to end up destroying our planet?

Hi Erwan,

Thanks for responding.

Your response raises a deep and important question about the human condition. I acknowledge humans are not pefect and when I said the internet is not safe, I am referring to various phishing attempts, malware, adult content, and other harmful materials that, if allowed to be easily accessible, bring further detriment to the human condition. The context of the "internet" refers to the use of and collection of content, I am not saying the internet technology itself is safe or unsafe but rather the use of and content being hosted has a risk of being unsafe. Saying that, machines and AI can only achieve up to 99.99% efficiency, and mistakes can be made, so I am not saying we should rely completely on AI, but for it to be regarded like the internet, as a technology God has allowed to come into the world, and to therefore be used to overcome the life traps and help protect our next generation from these same and any other traps. The AI cannot destroy the planet as long as it is used for good and to do the will of God, but I understand your concern as not everyone shares this perspective and already AI bots seem to be used to harrass or spread propaganda on TikTok. I share your sentiments about the caution needed with such influential technology, for example, I would prefer that drones were not invented, because they are just being used for attack in Ukraine. So what about AI? Perhaps it should not have been invented if it has the potential to be used for evil, in which case the same argument could be made for the internet which you said is a space of total freedom, but really the action of the internet was to reconcile the world communication. So what is the action for AI? I do not believe it should be elevated above humanity as you seem to fear, but if we do not act now, already people are downloading AI relationship chatbots, this is not sustainable as the insidious nature of evil will of course attempt to use this technology for evil. If you are saying we should do nothing right now when AI is taking root, then what hope do we have when it brings forth fruit out of our control? So I repeat my question, the internet is not safe, what do you suggest?

Regards,

Joshua
