Hello,

I'm using K-9 since years and don't plan on switching because it's the best mail client available for Android - thank you for developing this awesome client btw!

I would love to see support for S/MIME as it's growing importance, especially in business communication. For example the company I work for requires using S/MIME for every mail containing personal data, which means that technically I have to use S/MIME already when I just mention anyones name in an email, which makes K-9 unusable for a lot of business communication right now.

Kind regards

I'm in the same situation. For me, it would be very importante having S/MIME in K9.

I'm in the same situation. For me, it would be extremely important. Without them I need to use two mail apps

Currently neither the K-9 App nor the Thunderbird App (on Android at least) offers S/MIME, only PGP.

It would be super handy to have our certificates on there, for when we don't have access to a PC but urgently need to send information.

Not me realising I just made the same feature request for Thunderbird Mobile, which is effectively the same thing... Thanks for making this post!

Just for reference: See also SMileCE, a an extension for SMile (an inactive fork off K-9 Mail) for S/MIME.

I'd like an option like on Thunderbird desktop, where you can sign unencrypted emails as well, so that they show up as being verified.

Unfortunately Thunderbird under Android is not an option for me without this capability.

There is a corresponding feature request on Github.

This would be huge I've used Thunderbird forever but lack of this feature means I can't use Thunderbird for mobile.  Honestly I would pay a fee to have it on mobile.  I've got the feature with Fairmail but I would prefer to use Thunderbird for everything

I would love to have this feature.  This is the only reason I haven't switched to Thunderbird on Android yet.  Instead I have to use Fairmail
