Status: New idea

A "Restart Browser" Button in the file dropdown menu right above the "Exit" button that would save and close every tab and window and restore then on restart.

I don't know if this idea has already been suggested or not and I'm way too tired to check. Either this idea will get implemented or it will get ignored. Or a whole bunch of trolls will come out of the woodwork to condemn me for daring to suggest something that's already been suggested and turned down, i don't care. Implement it or don't.

I want this feature too.

A restart button would be MUCH appreciated! I assume it's simple to implement this as the restart button already exists in about:profile and in "quick actions" in the "awesome bar". Chromium has an excellent restart option at chrome://restart which you can bookmark and click. ANY sort of easy to click restart button would be GREAT!!!

This is even more of an issue when you run multiple windows on multiple monitors with multiple tabs open on each. All we need is a restart option that does the same thing "update" does without installing the new update. Restart all windows and restore all tabs as they were. That, or fix all the memory leaks. 😉

I think this perfectly describes what's wrong and what we want. Although I'm greedy, i want a fix to the memory leak issue and a restart button 😁

Wow, they recently changed the start menu for Firefox (container tabs) and didn't include a restart button between the "Work Offline" and "Exit" buttons. I'm starting to feel that Mozilla staff actually hates us. What are your thoughts @Jon ?

Why has this not been implemented over the years.

It is such a simple thing to do and yet Firefox Mozilla people cannot be bothered to make the effort.

What I have noticed is that if you type
restart
in the URL bar, a grey button with "Restart Firefox" appears.  Clicking it does exactly what we need.

@louisvd Even if this were true, which it's not, the fact that you had to make a comment about it in a forum proves that it's not something readily available for people to see. Most people expect to restart button where all restart buttons are, in the main menu.

This is visible beneath the URL bar, but only if you have installed the restart button that is available as an extension. Even then, it goes to the extension, but does not restart on its own.

I totally agree with you on the main menu being the proper place for this.
