I appreciate your recent innovation in integrating an AI sidebar on Firefox desktop. I would like to request that this feature be extended to Firefox for Android as well.

Given the increasing reliance on AI tools, having an AI assistant sidebar on mobile would greatly enhance productivity and user experience. Bringing this feature to Android would reinforce Firefox’s leadership in user-focused, privacy-respecting innovation.

Thank you for considering this request.

If this is accepted, please make it an option rather than imposed.  I do not use AI and do not intend to!

Yeah it needs to be implemented in Firefox Android too.

Can't we have one decent browser without AI slop added to it? We don't need Firefox to go down hill because of tech bros current obsession with this AI bs. Keep AI out of Firefox.

There should simply be an option to turn the AI sidebar on or off in Firefox for Android. Those who don’t want it can keep it off, and those who find it useful can enable it. That way, everyone’s preference is respected without forcing AI features on users. At the same time, an AI sidebar is needed in the era of the AI revolution for those who wish to benefit from these tools.

Thank you Shriradhakrish, that is exactly what I would like

No one benefits from FIrefox adding a sidebar for a program that wrecks the environment and uses other people's intellectual property to make things up. If you want a LLM then go download one of the many versions available out there. Firefox does not need one.

Thank you all for your feedback on this idea! I understand the concerns about keeping Firefox free from unnecessary features, and I agree that user choice is paramount. However, integrating an optional AI sidebar in Firefox for Android is crucial to stay competitive in today’s rapidly evolving browser landscape.

Major browsers like Chrome, Edge, and Opera have already embraced AI features, such as content summarization and task automation, which enhance productivity and streamline workflows. For instance, Microsoft Edge’s Copilot and Opera’s Aria provide real-time assistance directly in the browser, saving users time on tasks like depth knowledge or summarizing articles. Additionally, emerging AI-powered browsers like Perplexity’s Comet and OpenAI’s upcoming browser are redefining user expectations by offering conversational interfaces that simplify complex tasks without leaving the browser.

Firefox, with its smaller market share, risks falling behind if it doesn’t adapt to this AI-driven era. An AI sidebar could offer features like summarizing web content, answering queries, or automating tasks, all while maintaining Firefox’s commitment to privacy by processing data locally or allowing users to opt out entirely. Making the feature toggleable ensures that users, who prefer a minimalist experience, can disable it, while others can benefit from enhanced functionality.

By embracing AI thoughtfully, Firefox can attract new users and retain its community, ensuring it remains a leader in privacy-respecting, innovative browsing rather than fading in a competitive market.
