You guys are the developers of Firefox, I've been using your browser for over 10 years. It is the best of all the others today. But now I have to use natively portable Vivaldi, Cent & SlimeJet. And all because I don't want to install any software on my system. I like the natively portable versions. Firefox should have been portable for many years now.
I'm running two instances (x86 and amd64) of three different windopsi (win7 and win10) off usb-stick.
At first it was that PortableApps thing. The problem is this portable Firefox wasn't exactly portable &emdash; profiles go into /Users/whateverdefaultuseris/AppData and such. This wasn't acceptable so I've made an effort and achieved kind of portability.
Still, Firefox absolutely insists on writing in home and registry.
I've contemplated on this and came to realization that from ground up (I mean &emdash; *DOS*) everything was absolutely essentially portable (exposed greybeards would understand). And then with each iteration that culture has been lost. It's possible Firefox can't be made portable &emdash; not in this day and age, not anymore.
Still, as a dream. Probably should just roll with live Slackware instead.
I’ve been using the portable version of Firefox for years.Yet, Firefox still writes entries to my registry—and recently, even to the "Run" key.Consequently, an instance of Firefox launches automatically every time I restart my computer, but it’s not the portable version. It’s just plain annoying. This completely undermines the benefits of the portable version.Mozilla once promoted the portable version with the claim that it leaves no traces on the computer. That is clearly no longer the case. It’s a shame; I guess I’ll have to look for a different browser.
