I just spent several seconds looking at a date and trying to decipher it.

As a Brit, I'm used to a day-month-year format, so today is 16/09/2023, i.e. 16 Sep 2023.

But in the US (anywhere else?) a month-day-year format is used, so today would be 09/16/2023, i.e. Sep 16 2023. There aren't 16 months in the year so 09/16/2023 is confusing to people like me. What is that? The 9th of Sedecimber 2023?

If you wrote months as 3 letters (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec) then that would remove all confusion regardless of what order you write the day and month in.

That said, even better still, I'd prefer a standardised format. My preference would be day-month-year, but writing the month using 3 letters would be a good start to reduce confusion.

Hey @JimCarner

Thanks for bringing this up. It's a bit hidden but you should be able to update your preferences by clicking on your profile/avatar in the upper right hand corner of the site > select Account settings > Preferences > under Display there are options to choose the Date display format as well as the Display dates as.

Let me know if this is what you're looking for.

Thanks, yes that fixed the issue, I changed the date format to dd-MMM-yyyy and now the date is showing as day-month (3 letters)-year, e.g. 19-Sep-2023

It never even occurred to me to go rooting round in the settings since I (wrongly) assumed the date format was decided by the site and that the user coudn't change it.

I should have said in my original comment, but could you also please provide an option to display the time in 24 hour format, so for example 19:00 instead of 07:00 PM? I couldn't find an option for that.

Oh awesome...glad to hear it's fixed and that you could set up the 3 letters format for months. Let me take a look at the time format options...it should be there. Or at least hopefully it is.
