Please add more options to visually highlight new and unread emails in the message list. Currently, the default bold text is not enough, especially on high-resolution screens or for users with visual fatigue. It would be extremely helpful to have native settings to change the background color, text color (e.g., red or blue), or add a colorful dot next to unread messages so they instantly stand out from already read emails.

I completely agree. Right now I'm editing the userChrome file, but having a direct option in the settings would definitely be better.

Is this something that could be accomplished by a theme or extension?

I have an obsession with the colors Orange and Aqua (Think Howard Johnsons).  I am new to Thunderbird, but is see that the process of creating a theme is similar to chrome.  If I could find documentation of the xml tags, I could experiment.
