Status: New idea

I would like to suggest a new refreshed Firefox Nightly widget on Android. The current widget is far more outdated than the competitors. (eg: Google) It can't be customized, it's shaped like a box and it's just a solud black button that isn't really stylish or modern at all. My idea is that the search widget should get a customization option inside the Firefox Nightly settings menu where you can change it's color and transparency. Implement the already existing Android Material You Engine and Design which would be a seperate option. If enabled the search widget color changes from the basic black to the users wallpaper color matching the style of the whole phone. Make the widget a bit more rounded because that's just a standard form factor at this point. Firefox search widget is still a bit blocky and outdated. And my final suggestion is that the sizing should be fixed. I remember that maybe 3 years ago when Android 14 dropped the Firefox search widget could be aligned from edge to edge on the homescreen. Now it's much smaller and every resize makes it jump closer to the middle of the homescreen making it stand out and not symmetric at all. That's all of my ideas. I attached an image that would represent how I imagine the new search widget. Yes it's ai generated and isn't that good but you can see the idea. Firefox Mobile
