@Jon This has been "in review" since August. Does that mean that not only has implementation not yet begun, the decision to implement still has not even been made!?
Plenty of us see Google taking Chrome in a direction we're uncomfortable with, but this just screams that Mozilla lacks any direction at all.
Still desperate for this feature. The more I rely on Firefox for work the more I need to be able to stay organised. Please implement this (or allow addons to be able to manage tabs like on desktop). It would be really useful to be able to move and pin individual tabs too.
Android Firefox lacking proper tab grouping like Chromium does is the one and only reason I haven't switched over yet. Firefox on Android has everything else going for it — Adblocking via uBlock, userscript support, and proper extension support to name a few — but the fact that it lacks a built-in tab grouping system is an absolute deal breaker for me. Unfortunately I will have to stick with Brave until Firefox implements this.
Just another vote here for this. I find it hugely useful to have 'open in new tab in group' when I'm browsing products, researching for work, etc. I can't really use Firefox without this feature.
I think it would be cool if Firefox mobile had a tab group function (there is this in Firefox nightly for desktop), for example a shopping group, a work group, etc.
Here is a very quick mockup of a Firefox window with a tab group switcher next to the new tab button (top right):
