If this feature is implemented, I would like to see biometric authentication introduced at the same time.

One feature I would love is better support for "basic authentication". I mean, when you have an .htaccess file on the server and the site asks you for username and password.

I am in the kinda sad situation that I need multiple users on such a site. But Firefox only allows me to store one username/password combination per host. But I concede, it is probably more of an edge case.

I agree 100%. Firefox (Mozilla) has earned the peoples trust over many years. Kudos dude ๐Ÿ™‚

@crabelI think it's actually quite common scenario, especially for admins, testers or developers. I've found this bug that seems to be related.

This is a great idea. I already avoid sites that require setting up a new account, so being able to SSO with a FF account would be handy.

If it could be made password-less, that would be amazing. I login to my microsoft account using just the MS authenticator app like this:

The MS authenticator app also allows non-MS accounts for MFA/2FA (eg I've got my snapchat account in there).

I'd like to add on to what others said, in particular I think copying "Sign in with Apple" is the best option PLUS you can blend it with a service you already offer, Firefox Relayโฉ. I would pay for that instantly.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210318

From the Sign in with Apple page / some of my own words, hopefully it all makes sense:

- At your first sign in, apps and websites can ask only for your name and email address to set up an account for you.

- You can use Firefox Relay Mozilla's private email relay service to create and share a unique, random email address that forwards to your personal email. This lets you receive useful messages from the app without sharing your personal email address.

- Mozilla would make the same promise not to track/profile users and only retain information needed to make sure you can sign in and manage the account.

- The service is compatible with the OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect standards, and integrates with the Firefox Relay extension.

Hit me with that constructive criticism people! ๐Ÿ™‚

It seems this idea has died.

Is there any rough draft of this idea?

It seems this idea is dead.

Or has a rough draft of this idea been made?
