In vertical tabs, add a close button. Currently, you need to either second-click to close contextually, or Control-W which requires two fingers and is not a comfortable command to hit.
Give us a little X in the upper right corner, even if it makes the icon a tad larger.

There was previously an option for that, but nobody knows why it was removed. ☹️

I hope this gets implemented. I came here to suggest the idea and found you'd already done it. I loved the vertical tabs. At first they kinda bugged out my brain, following years of use of horizontal tabs, but got used to them surprisingly quickly. The only thing it lacks is the close tab somewhere on the top toolbar. I just closed the entire session by mistake clicking in the close window out of muscle memory.

They could add a little "+" button on the top to open new tab too.
