In vertical tabs, add a close button. Currently, you need to either second-click to close contextually, or Control-W which requires two fingers and is not a comfortable command to hit.
Give us a little X in the upper right corner, even if it makes the icon a tad larger.

If you all on the FF team simply added a X Close Tab option to the Customize list of commands, then we can simply put it wherever we want it.

In Vertical mode when the sidebar is shrunk, it definitely takes more work than it should to close a tab.

For me adding a close tab button between the Home/back buttons and the address bar would be perfect.

I agree. It will bee a great thumb up.

Same thing, either a close button on the favicon of the current tab itself or (what I think is much simpler) adding a button to close the tab in the toolbar would be perfect

I would actually prefer an x button on the corner on mouse hover. But still, this idea deserves a star

Holy Crap! The close box appeared with today's update.

What a thing of beauty to behold.

And it behaves just as you'd expect. Great job devs.

THIS is why I support open source software.

How did you turn this on? I can't find an option to enable it.

It just appeared on Nightly (137.0a1). The close box appears on mouse over.

Today I noticed that while 135 has vertical tabs, they do not have the close box. Weird.

For now, I am using double click to close tabs on Firefox stable version (v.135.0.1) with vertical tabs enabled.

Steps:

  • Open Firefox and type about:config into the address bar, then press Enter.

  • Accept the Risk:

    • A warning page will appear. Click Accept the Risk and Continue.
    • Search for browser.tabs.closeTabByDblclick
    • Double-click on the setting to change it from false to true.

This enables Firefox to close any tab when you double-click on it. Single click to switch to the tab, and double click will close the tab.
