Status: New idea

I would like to request that Firefox implement CSS Scroll-Driven Animations (animation-timeline: scroll() and view()). This feature is already supported in Chromium-based browsers and is essential for developers to create lighter, smoother scroll animations without heavy JavaScript, while aligning with the W3C standard. Supporting it in Firefox would greatly improve cross-browser consistency

I'd like to understand, why even Edge supports it, but Firefox can't stay my favourite browser.

Thanks for any insight to this matter 🙂

Cheers,
Awund

edit: found out that firefox seems to desperately needs the animation-duration for it to work.

edit2: however, animation-range-start and -end seem not to work

We are supporting this feature, the standard position of scroll-driven animation is positive: https://github.com/mozilla/standards-positions/issues/347

animation-timeline is behind a preference of scroll-driven animation (https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/rev/e4a222169f9f9b1d8f2f49e4066585b6b9c4dc58/servo/components/...).

The development is still in progress (so not enabled by default).

one and half year later - and you still not able to implement this as standard? this is lame

I would also like to have an update on this, with Safari and Chromium fully supporting this now Firefox is the one holdout that is holding our developers back from using this nifty new feature.

2026 and only firefox doesn't support this MAJOR css feature.

Hi, I'm a developer, I see all the other browsers are ready since years, so why isn't it already available on firefox? When is it planned to be implemented/supported?

Thank you, regards

Yes, it should be already implemented... Chromium-based browsers got it in 2023, safari in 2025. And this feature is a quite essential one...

Basically, I'm about to abandon Firefox support as a developer, if Firefox doesn't support the developers needs. Non tech people do not use Firefox, so I already often feel like a Don Chichotte... But now it's starting to be really hard to continue to bother about making websites firefox-compatible.

Hello, I was wondering: when are you going to finally support css scroll-driven animations? It's quite annoying that you still no..
