Firefox managed to bring HDR to Macs in 100.0 version. Now it's time for Windows!

It'd be awesome to watch and work on HDR images and videos using Firefox in 2022. Windows is the most popular OS, why not bring HDR here too?
More monitors and devices running on Windows support HDR, so there is an increase in demand of HDR support in Firefox.

The only option for Windows users is either to switch to another browser or to download and use a dedicated app from Microsoft Store.

sad that I have to use edge or chrome to watch HDR video. The look much better wheb available. Firefox is still my favorite browser exept to watch video

Please do add HDR support to all operating systems ASAP! This is rapidly becoming the standard for modern digital media and the lack of HDR support is the main thing that would force me long term to switch to a chromium based alternative as my daily driver despite really wanting to avoid google-controlled web browsers. YouTube is also actively working on improving HDR and once that's implemented the majority of web content going forward will be optimized for HDR screens, which will only exasperate the issue.

Was looking into HDR support for Firefox on windows and found this thread.

Here is why HDR is a important feature in 2023 and should be implemented ASAP IMO.

1: HDR video is rapidly becoming the standard of content on sites like You tube and is already standard on things like Netflix and other streaming sites.

2: As we begin the transition away from LCD panels into the microLED and OLED world. These new technologies will more than likely support HDR 400 at a minimum and. Thus HDR video in browser makes sense as it transparent to the end user. They enable it in Windows, and then never think about it again. much like it works on OSX.

3; HDR is an important feature that people will make a decision to use a browser or not. being stubborn and not adding HDR support in version 113 or sooner will only put Firefox behind the curve. Even more so with Nvidia Video Super resolution coming to google Chrome. if that works as well as advertised it offers a large decrease in video bandwidth while not forgoing quality.

Could you please consider supporting HDR as soon as possible? Additionally, supporting HEVC would also be greatly appreciated. Chrome and Edge already support these features, whereas Firefox is currently lagging behind in implementing them.

Guys if you need to read million posts just to say: Oh, now it's a trending idea this means that you are intentionally choosing the way down following Netscape route. The best browser intentionally trying to commit suicide by playing the fool in a critical issue of lacking support for an important feature requested by all customers. Yes, customers as without users you will have nothing left, so please consider users customers even though they don't monetize directly for you.

Short: When is HDR coming?
